I adopted a 5(?) year old dog from a shelter this past December. One month in, she developed a tumor that had to be removed. It was her second tumor (she had one removed before we adopted her). The first one wasn't cancerous, but the second one was. We had surgery to remove it, and then went through 15 weeks of chemo. Even though we've had her for less than a year, I'd be devastated if something happened to her. My wife keeps talking about how she wants to make a deal with someone (God? Magician? Other?) that she'll take 20 years off her life to give an extra 10 to our dog. Luckily, our dog is still doing well after treatment, but who knows when it will come back?

My dog was a hot mess when I first got him. He was just a pup and at like 12 weeks old he broke his leg. Then before he hit a year old he managed to mess up his stomach by eating his bed (luckily he didn't get an obstruction). He's also had a pretty bad allergic reaction to something (we think it was a bug bite or bee sting) which also messed up his stomach. By 18 months old I'd spent well over $5,000 on him in vet bills outside of the normal vaccines, etc that they need. Knock on wood, but he's been fine pretty much since then. But man were those first 18 months rough.

Without a doubt.

Anyone who hates Pits, doesn’t know a damn thing about dogs, except what they see in the news.

Dogs are the best. They should never die.

I'm going to do a compliment sandwich. Two good things and one critique.

Dahlin and Miller are the top D pair. Hopefully that means they get the most 5v5 minutes.

Sobotka is still 2LW

Scandawful is 3rd pair.

I'll admit, my pit can be a little scary at times. She is not friendly with other dogs, and she's powerful. But she's great with kids and loves to play and be pet. I haven't had any issues with her biting either.

This dog discussion is great... we should do this more often instead of rehashing old hockey arguments.

What my dog has eaten. He has super bad separation anxiety. He was left in a crate to die before we rescued him.

3 pounds of Halloween candy
A DVD, case, disc and all
Part of a heated blanket
A box cutter (still never found the blade)
Multiple crate bottoms.
Multiple dog beds.
AN LED motion light
The carpet.
The wall
A door jam/Frame.
Tupperware.

Lots of things to watch tonight. But let's see if our 4th line can hold their own and do what they need to do to be a quality defensive unit.

Let's be objective and see if Sobotka compliments the 2nd line by clearing space for Skinner and MoJo. Skinner is a massive possession/ RelCor% drive, as is MoJo. Perhaps that rubs off on our buddy and raises his individual rates.

Again. Eye test and math test. It is what it is, for game one, so you might as well root for it. Or cry into your peach bellini.

If you're gonna play Scandella, presumably for his PK ability and to.. umm.. cover for Joker's offensive side.. at least he's not on the first, or second, or with Risto.

So within the frame of the lineup, it's not a critique.

Him being on this team, however, is. Ralph has.. I guess.. liked his play. Apparently.

He ate his bed while he was in his crate. He no longer gets any blankets/bed or anything of the sort in there.

He's a total food hound though, so if you leave anything even remotely attended that he can reach, it's his (he's a lab).

He generally only chews up things he's supposed to if you leave him in a room for a bit while you're home and he's pissed about it. Been a realllllllllllllllllly long time since he's done something like that though. In general, he's been really good about not chewing up things he's not supposed to.

But he'd definitely eaten a bag of hershey's kisses before (foil and all) and gotten some corn on the cob (gave him peroxide to make him throw up because we didn't know how big the cob part would be and didn't want to risk waiting to see if it would pass).

Do I love Sobotka being on that line? No. But before I freak out, I'll give him a game or two to see what he can do there.

If he looks like he's just coasting and isn't actually contributing in any way, then I'll get really upset.

I was in your shoes 5 months ago my friend. I felt the exact same way. I’d be lying to you if I said I still don’t think about the situation. Everything works out though. I’m now seeing someone else that I met from Uni and everything is going well.

Yup. Just a paper move to save cap space. Which makes no sense

Bogo at 5.5 and hundwick on LTIR

How are still barely below it?

- Sabretooth9

Bogo isn't on LTIR. There's no benefit from putting a second player on LTIR right now.

Sending Olofsson and Joker down didn't save cap space immediately, it manipulated the LTIR calculations and set them up to save cap space starting today. If you look at cap friendly, you'll see our ACSL listed at $81,472,024. The moves were about getting that as close to 81.5m as possible.

Yesterday, they were about 25k under the cap, now they are $211,250 under the cap.

Our cat has begun jumping from the second story loft to the first floor couch for fun.

Was certainly a surprise the first time it happened,

The Mrs and I recently got a puppy (we're his 3rd home) and his separation anxiety is terrible, we'd be cleaning the car on one side of the wall and he'd be 2m away looking at us just crying cause he can't be beside us. any tips on getting over that?

we've had him 3 months now and he's getting loads better with us but still cries really badly when we leave him for any length of time at all.

Also very weary of people, we don't know his history so we think there might have been some abuse with how he acts around anyone who isn't me or my wife

We had a Rhodesian Ridgeback. Best dog ever. Made it thru 2 surgeries, 2nd of which was removal of a pretty bad tumor right when he turned 12 (about the max for breed lifespan). Didn't hesitate to get it done. He was fine for about six months then everything went downhill - hips, no appetite, lethargic, etc. - old age stuff. Vet said all he could do was keep him comfortable so we had to put him down. Still don't regret the decision to spend the $$$ on the surgery, well worth it even if it just bought us 6 more months.

All of the recalls had to do with stacking the cap to maximize the LTIR from Hunwick. I don't think they're putting Bogo on LTIR. capfriendly needs to figure out all the math and I assume the accurate cap figures will be out in a day or two
