Biega was more reliable 5v5 than Schenn was in his short little stint last season.
- manvanfan

Then only times I've liked Biega is when he comes in fresh after sitting in the press box for 10+ days. I think due not his size and style of play, he spends so much energy that he just runs out of gas when played regularly.

Plus shorter dmen who don't produce offense are probably not what you want too much of. Stecher is more than enough.

I was okay with Biega . I just think Schenn is tougher. Either guy is okay but we are talking about a number 7 guy.

Exactly . He costs 700 K he can hit and he is smart with experience. I liked Biega also but he is not PK Subban either. Depth signing if it happens.

When you have to add cap hit to the value he brings to a team. I think that's a lost cause of a player.

I really never liked Biega or Schenn. Team has evolved into players are aren't going to be as bad as players like Biega or Schenn. Where the roster even with injuries these players are still not going to play.

I think this is Sutters last year here. I know most people hate his contract but I am not one. He served his purpose and when his value increases they will move on.

I heard Sat Shah about an hour ago say there was a few offers for a trade for BS but Canucks did not like the return . It was not enough.

Canucks management have high respect for Sutter.

I liked him 2 years ago actually, I thought he was solid and was getting hate for no reason. But the constant injuries is annoying, plus he looked slower to me last year. I think his decline is going to be harsh if he loses speed since he's a thin guy and doesn't have great puck handling skills either.

Well obviously Canucks like him more than you do. That's fine. I don't see a problem if they sign him.

He did look slow last year and he did get injured a lot . I hope he has a bounce back year. I still think it is his last year here.

Stecher a plus player last season in 20 minutes a game.

I like players no matter how they play that aren't going to keep you from winning hockey games. End goal is to win hockey games for me.

He’s looked really good so far. He talked about how Pilates helped him recovery- and flexibility-wise. I think he’ll have a good year and then be traded at the TDL, or summer if they’re close to the playoffs.

For sure, but I've read some interesting articles/posts/tweets that suggest that the team going deeper into analytics have found that height matters more dmen than forwards and it shows up in stats that they track that go well beyond corsi.

The Bolts had a lineup full of tall dmen a couple of years ago the Blues also have size back there. The Canes are one of the most invested in analytics and have decent size on the back end.

Obviously you don't go out of your way to take a worse player just because he's taller, but apparently the length on the back end is something that correlates with team success.

Benning and his loose lips

Well at least it won't cost him 50 K this time.

The more I look at the waiver list, the more I think Baertschi won't get claimed. Which to me makes it look like an even stranger move, but oh well.

Can't see teams grabbing him over Sprong or Ho-Sang.

Isn't Ho-Sang like Goldobin with a attitude problem?

Yeah, I'd say it's about 50/50 at best. A lot of teams can't even afford to claim him.

Pretty much.

I can see some bottom feeders with nothing to lose taking a chance on guys like him, Goldy or Sprong since they make peanuts.

Schenn fit in here well last year . Why not bring him back?
- VANTEL

He was fine and if this team was on the cusp of a deep playoff run, I think he's a great depth guy to have.

This team needs Dmen that can help in the next few years and I see McKeown and Forsling to a certain extent as guys who were waived because of Carolina's impressive depth rather than their abilities.

I still can't believe IMac of all people questioned a JB move
- Nucker101

My other conspiracy theory is that the Canucks wanted to quell the rising water on the Captaincy going to Baertschi.....
