I don't think fans want them to lose, but if they ain't making the playoffs then lose big and try to increase your odds of getting an impact player that is moderately protected under the current CBA.

Not a bad payoff for living through a poor season.

Personally, trying hard isn't good enough for me, and a real NHL goalie would have stopped most of the shots that Gauds scored on.
