Teams can't assign him to AHL once claimed. I think they have to keep him up like the leaf did with Frankie... So he'll earn an NHL salary for the full year.

Biega is a serviceable # 7-8 defenseman, for a team lacking depth.
I believe the Canucks just want an overhaul of the defense, which should allow a chance for Juolevi, Brisebois, some call ups
Many times, over the past couple seasons, we have discussed the fact, that the team will be totally different from what is was.
I for 1 have no problems with the roster changes, as of yet,...but, will be ecstatic, when Loudini is gone.

It's basically like he's still on waivers (whoever you're talking about), and as long as no other team also puts in a claim, you can claim back your claimed player and send them straight to the AHL.

Reid Boucher got claimed three times the same year I think! Once by Nashville (from NJ), once by NJ who re-claimed him and once by the Canucks.

Friedman says that even though the new US TV deal is 2 years out, the NHL and NHLPA are discussing plans to delay the significant cap increase an extra year (presumably to reduce escrow to a % players can live with). Says the cap could go up ~2M for 3 years and then a big jump.
