Currently Capfriendly has us under the cap by about $25k. Shows us at 22 roster size with UPL on the roster and Olofsson and Gilmour not with the big club yet. Also, does not show any LTIR yet. I presume that tomorrow Hunwick will go on LTIR and Olofsson and Gilmour will be officially on the roster. |

Just read the Oilers blog and it sounded eerily similar to the Sabres. |

A few moves coming over the next 24 hours to play with the cap. Guessing they submit a roster without anyone on LTIR at 5PM, then maneuver a bit before putting 1 guy on LTIR. UPL will be on SOIR and have no cap hit.
Little odd that they show Gilmour down, without clearing waivers.....but they have so much work to do right now.

Ralph Krueger confirmed the 22 skaters on ice today will be Sabres’ opening-night roster. Here it is (including injured Bogosian, Hunwick, Montour and UPL). https://t.co/F4j7TNVATN - adambuffalo

They are Buffalo west.
Their forwards are slightly better, goaltending is quite a bit better, our defense should be a lot better though if they get healthy. |

They must be cap compliant in 26 hours.
At 5:00, they can place Bogo and Hunwick on LTIR, which will give them over 7M in space. Put UPL and Montour on IR, "call up" Gilmour, Jokiharju and Olofsson, on paper. We'll be well below the cap.
Teams can comply with the cap by simultaneously placing their players on LTIR and being cap compliant at the same time. |

You're not enjoying the capology element
Botts is doing some great cap work by getting all these terrific players to fit |

please tell me they have a trade in place to address the center position so that Mojo can go back to wing.. and they are just waiting on waivers or final roster moves.. please |

You're way off on how LTIR relief is calculated. |

Hm. Thought it was tomorrow.
How am I off? Doesn't their cap get completely removed from the team cap?
How is LTIR Relief calculated?
LTIR relief comes in the form of two values: a salary relief pool, and a performance bonus relief pool.
These pools are determined the day the player is placed on LTIR. The salary relief pool is the player’s averaged salary excluding performance bonuses (their cap hit value). The performance bonus relief is the player’s total performance bonuses for this season (games played, A and B bonuses), regardless of if they are still achievable.
What if the team already has a player on LTIR?
The teams ACSL remains the same, and their salary relief pool increases by the player’s cap hit, and the performance bonus relief pool increases by the player’s performance bonuses. |

There was a big argument about this over the summer.
I guess, technically, you get enough relief to get yourself to the cap, but if you make a roster move, you can use that IR space to get yourself to zero again.
So if you're $2 million over the cap, and you put $5 million of salary on IR, you get $2 million of "cap relief". However, if you need to call up a player, say, who's cap hit is $700k, you get an extra $700k of relief to "fit" under the cap so long as you have enough cushion from the IR. I guess it makes a difference when you start to pro-rate salaries. |

The most basic interpretation i've heard is that LTIR covers the amount of money that you go over the cap with your players.
So Bogo isn't subtracted from the cap, but if we're $750k over, his LTIR hit covers the overage. It's still a problem because you're functionally operating with 0 cap space. Lunaion can expand more or correct me |

That's literally what I said.
The point is, if TT was better than Okposo (he was), and if they were never going to let him make the team over Okposo (they weren't) then they should have brought in someone to actually compete for the spot
Sprong or Ho Sang could right that wrong - jcragcrumple
Didn’t have Cap space
AND
Tage WAS given a chance to show he was ready
They decided he wasn’t
It was NOT predetermined
*whether he was better than Okposo or not had nothing to do with it

Head spins off. None of it is readable. I don’t know why they feel the need to include so many variables. It’s a game, not international bird law.

It all depends on whether the player is placed on LTIR before or after the season starts. |
