I liked the Joker trade, Miller acq and MoJo signing. But this is literally dumb. Even if we are successful, with this lineup, it will only leave me wondering how much better we would be with competent management.

How can all of these players be at the same time so bad we dont want them on the roster, and also so good that other teams are willing to take them off our hands?

Elie, Wilson, Lazar and Nelson all cleared. Hmm, no one wanted these guys for free.

Don't you have to keep a guy on your NHL roster if you claim him off waivers?

Three games for Evander Kane. I guess the "mean old ref hurt my feelings" song and dance does really work.

What's everyone's opinion on CJ Smith? Is he a career AHLer? At 24 years old, he has put up some good numbers with the Amerks, but never can stick with the big club. Just curious if he would be a player that could be traded to Edmonton for Puljujarvi's rights. Seems they are kind of light on talent at LW and are looking for someone that can help now. Add a mid round pick if needed. Puljujarvi has not lived up to his draft position, but still has a lot of potential.

CJ Smith is the one that bothered me the most.

The sabres are probably right. He probably wasn't good enough to make the team. He is probably a career AHL player. This was probably his last shot.

And you know what? It's their fault. Smith is an asset. This organization has done this with Mancari, with Bailey, with so many guys. You need to make a decision on a guy, he is your prospect. Either you trade him while he still has value, or you give him a shot. You can't just let them sit until they become worthless. He could have been traded two years ago for something, or he could be given a shot this year. What they have done is let an asset disappear for nothing.

CJ Smith never had any trade value worth writing home about.

Being upset at the roster makeup is one thing. That should have been taken care of over the summer.

However, I refuse to get mad at them for not going dumpster diving.

I must have missed the part where we started off with 10 straight losses. What do you expect Krueger to do, watch last year's tape? All he can do is go by what he sees now. If 28 and 17 come out and stink up the joint and he doesn't do anything about it then we can crucify him for it. We forget that at different points in there careers they were decent players. It isn't like they lost three steps like Moulson or Okposo.

We still have an empty roster spot. Assuming they IR Montour and Bogo.

This.

On the outside, without seeing Sprong's game, I would have taken a flier on him, but then I'm reading where he's atrocious defensively?

40 guys on waivers and only two were claimed. A goalie who is not any good and a defenseman I mentioned yesterday we should go after.

Not sure if the Sabres were not interested in any of the guys, or if our cap situation prevented them from placing a claim.

Capfriendly has not updated the rosters yet with the guys currently on the roster and the ones that were sent down.

the eye test says we already have 6 wingers that play atrocious D

what's one more?

botts scouted him, helped draft him, so it seem he must not like something about him

perhaps it's his rapid hair loss
