If you did send Gaudette down and Sven gets hurt, you can call up Gaudette. If Gaudette gets hurt and Sven is claimed. Back to dumpster diving in Utica.

If they want to keep Sven it seems like an unnecessary risk, when you already have a salty player in Loui who would easily go unclaimed.

This would be the best time to try to sneak Sven through though, when everyone else is making cuts as well.

That’s the only reason I could think for the timing... I don’t think they want want to keep him, or they just would keep him up. Maybe they think of it as win-win. He either gets claimed and the whole cap is off the books, or he doesn’t and they can recall him later.
