The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.
- homiedclown

Hence the additions of Olofsson, Vesey, Miller, Joker and Johansson. And the development of Dahlin, Vesey, Olofsson, Mittelstadt, Reinhart, Eichel, Thompson, and pray to god Ristolainen.

Different coaching, time and time again, bring out different play styles, and *usually* those teams play better with a new coach. How many examples are out there? There's a real possibility, and even in your own consistent statements, that Ralph will have his team perform better than Housley's, because of how awful of a coach Gum was.

The only member of the pooppile I can accept returning is Larsson.

The rest have shown barely a pulse last year and deserve to be punted.

- kingcong39

Larsson could be saved if not playing with the bottom rung of the NHL. I’ll buy it

Literally nobody is saying that. Nobody.

We're simply hoping for improvement anywhere it can be made.

- kingcong39

I love improvement. Improvement is the best. But we are sitting here behind a keyboard demanding that players get swapped out because we as internet hockey minds know for a (frank)ing fact that Asplund will be better than Larry and Sobotka. All I'm asking for is proof that he's all around better than them, today.

I gave it to you, based on watching him in the preseason.

I’m betting you get your wish. They didn’t resign Girgs and Larry to send them to Rochester. They signed them to give the young guys and opportunity to develop and add depth.
I am leaning toward the haters and want them gone, Asplund and Lazar on the 4th but I know that’s not going to happen

Lazar was poop for Ottawa.

Lazar was poop for Calgary

Now all the sudden he's 'definitely' better than our Lockport Bros. If he makes it and one of them get the boot, great. If not, whatever.

Only reason we give him the benefit of the doubt is because people want change for the sake of change. There is zero evidence to the fans that he's an improvement. I'll let Krueger and Jason make that call.

You're not selling me on the quality of the all around games each of Okposo, Sobotka, and Girgensons have, are you?

I have watched these same games, and I, and apparently Krueger, don't think he's done a single thing to bump someone out of here.

If I'm wrong, I will gladly take my medicine. Either way, I'm not going to be a pissy poop about it and start talking about the (frank)ing draft before Game 1.

He actually has speed. He actually hits. He's fun to watch. Does entertainment count for anything?

In Sobotka's case, you're talking about a guy who had 13 points and a -20

Punt him into orbit and try the new, fun, fast guy who who hacks at pucks around the net and looks like he gives a (frank) about his career. I'll take that guy over the mopey Sobotka

I am absolutely not selling that.

My point of contention is, does Asplund exceed those players in a defensive role, one in which he's undoubtedly going to start in the NHL with? I have not seen proof of that.

Lazar has looked better this preseason than Okposo and Sobotka did during the regular season and this preseason at almost any point. If they try Lazar and he doesn't work out, who gives a poop, but it's better than praying for some nonexistent miraculous turnaround from Okposo and Sobotka.

It's possible to care about more than one roster issue at a time.

And these guys are symbolic of the mediocre poop show that has been the last whatever amount of years

Why is Okposo here?

No, unfortunately it doesn't if you want to win. I get it from a fan standpoint. But there's nothing about skill, hockey sense and talent in that sentence.

The only reason we are talking about 3rd and 4th line players is that's all the change that can be made right now, unless/until there's a trade such as Ristolainen.

asplund clearly outplayed sobotka and larsson
hell asplund outplayed casey
tage outplayed okposo

you can really make a case ellie outplayed girgens and wilson

but I fully expect asplund, tage gilmore to all be sent down in a day

- homiedclown

Asplund and Joker going down and playing 30 games I think will be better for them long term then playing depth roles here. Thompson should make the team in all honesty but with Okposo around that will be tough. Gilmour is what he is at this point, which is better then Scandella and should be on the opening day roster.

If there's one player I've seen earn a demotion, it's him. I honestly think Tage could do his job. I'm assuming they want him for defensive purpose and leadership. Not saying those are great reasons, I'm just stating my opinion.

I disagree wholeheartedly.

Hes a guy who can put an energy shift out there and get the fans engaged and the guys on the bench engaged. Okposo doing loop dee loops in the offensive corner puts everyone to sleep.

What about Okposo, Sobotka, and Scandella exude any of the following qualities: skill, hockey sense, talent? Nothing is the answer.

I think his play style is needed. I think skill is too. Just a general statement, not one specifically about either player.

Okposo for defenseive purposes? That cannot be serious.
