It is sort of misleading . Marner was +22 and Tavares was +19 They will never be considered two way forwards because the puck is usually in the other teams end. - VANTEL
They were in the top 15 voted best defensive forwards. It's not misleading you at all. That's what is considered good defensive forwards in today's game.
The same as Boeser scoring 55 points, not being that great at defence and still being considered a top line player. That is a top line player in the league today.
Some wonder why certain players are getting so much on contracts and in free agency. Its pretty self explanatory that these players in the league have a much higher value than fans give them.
His PPG suggest a solid 75-85 point player but if he keeps missing 20 games per season there will be cause for concern. Needs to work on his defensive game as well. If he buys into the defensive game and put up 40 goals we have a stud for sure. But he needs to stay injury free and injuries seem to find this guy. Hope he proves me wrong this year with 70-75 healthy games and puts up 35 goals. - LordHumungous
He turned the jets on late last season(stole draft position from us)...was playing much better defensively down the stretch... learning from Petey no doubt. Boeser's main problem down low defensively was his speed. Came in faster this season. So he's been improving his foot speed since late last season. Health still a question mark.

I noticed on the transaction page that a few teams called up several players from their AHL affiliate, and then the next day sent them down again. Do you think they were trying to “hide” one more waiver eligible player amongst the guys who had already cleared? - 1970vintage
I wonder if this is a way to hide salary cap, ltir $$.
I read that the TML were doing something similar to max out abilities to get around the cap.

I believe that is a regular season thing to do. Something to the tune of if the team is closer to the cap max you are allowed more LTIR $$
People can have different opinions . No big deal. You are high on the guy , me not so much. Some people thought he should get 7-8 mil I thought he was worth 6 mil . You think he is tier 1 I think he is tier 2. - VANTEL
Tier 1 goal scorer with some work to do in other areas, he is 22 with what 100 games played, the injuries is my concern, the guy has bad luck written all over him.

Yeah, that’s once the season starts. They can send waiver exempt players to the AHL on off days, be below the 23 max roster to save salary cap $. The guys don’t even need to take a bus.
What I’m talking about is even before the rosters are set for day 1
Wouldn’t that be the kind of message they want to send? Do the work, get rewarded. If Boeser isn’t able to go you want to give that spot to Goldy, Jake or Eriksson?

Which person in the organization gave this message? Then which other person gave a different message. I'm all confused with these mixed messages.

Well that's normal, it’s been the key to their success the past six years.
But, to hopefully clarify for you, James Benning states that if a young player deserved to be on the team he would make room, and then Weisbrod said that if Gaudette was or was not on the team it would have nothing to do with his waiver status, but rather what they thought was the best thing for him and the alignment of the team.

That's ok, sometimes they just say things they don't mean. It's not that big a deal to say one thing and then do another. Relax, Benning & Co. have got this.
