I agree that it would be fun to watch goldy take regular shifts with EP. Not sure a coach on thin ice would feel the same way.

Some would say that Pettersson is compatible with anyone so I think some would see the "COMPATIBLE linemates" theory as kind of weak and can be easily dismissed. But those people are rude.

you could say that about any star but some are just better fits than others

Look at Crosby, not just anyone works.

Maybe Jared McCann is the answer to that age old Crosby question.

That's fair. But he wasn't doing that much heavy lifting as suggested, some very strong support. Loved Rielly as the cop and Meaney as the sheriff, very well done roles.

Heavy lifting and support. 2 levels of acting. I never suggested they didnt do good relative to their abilities. Caprio has done better.

I'm a big fan of Brendan Gleason and he didnt disappoint in G.O.N.Y. He was excellent in "The General". People should check that movie out. An excellent Irish gangster movie. Lots of hilarious scams by these guys. Every time they are going to do a robbery etc, Gleason sleeps on the benches at the police station so his alibi can't be challenged. Drives the cops bonkers. Refuses to move from the apartment they are demoing. Wins every time against the police and officials.

Holy balls. I get your unending hate for TG infuses every aspect of your hockey thoughts, but perhaps:

- they wanted him getting used to other d partners in case, as what happened the other night, one guy goes down and they have to cycle through pairings
- they wanted to give some of the other fringe guys a steady d man in Tanev, and see how Hughes could handle more responsibility
- from the majority of the games I watched, Hughes was paired with Tanev, except as mentioned the game where Fantenberg went down

I suppose fans frustrations stem from differing opinions around what preseason is intended for...
warming up the pro's for the regular season
vs
playing around with different combo's and seeing what the prospects have.

I was at the game tonight, the last thing I noticed was the five guys Green sent out after the empty netter: Brisebois, Chatfield, MacEwen, Graovac, and Goldobin.
- alcatrazhockey

So Green put out 5 guys that are going to be cut on the ice in garbage time in pre-season and people are losing their minds.

The only revelation is that it tells you exactly where Goldy stands.

Even that is not exactly surprising.

The big question imo is whether JB waives Eriksson like he did last year with Gagner.

That is far too reasonable for this board, be gone!

Heard this mentioned somewhere else too and it's actually not a bad idea. Demko (to me) clearly isn't ready and I know everyone wants him as the backup but maybe the Team would benefit from an NHL 'experienced' backup?

This is a tough one.

- LordHumungous

Demko wouldn’t clear waivers so it’s time he keeps apprenticing imo

Pretty sure he's waiver exempt.

I think we're pretty thin on goalie depth as well.
If/when Marky and Demko get inured, there is not much support available.

That's ok.
This is a safe place.
At least until team whiner shows up.

Hey!

Sorry for the lateness of the blog. It's been a crazy week, but it's up now - reviewing last night's game and setting up the decisions that'll need to be made over the next few days.

So was just reading that Motte is injured now too?
If Brock and Fatenberg start on i/r, apparently only one more cut needs to be made (Briesbois?)and Goldobin and Gaudette can stay in the lineup for opening night.
