Of all the RFAs - how is the sweet fawk is Connor not signed yet?

- Brooks_Light

Yikes. Almost as much as Tkachuk with a year less and not nearly as good.

He gets scrutiny from US because of his draft # but so does Eriksson for his salary/lack of point production but again that's not what this is about - we're talking directly from Green. If generating more shots is the only argument again it's not at all convincing. I think Green has a personal agenda with Jake and thats fine but it's ridiculous that he's not singling out some other guys short comings as well. And it's certainly not a smart move by doing it through the media. At the end of the day, Jake has to be better but so does Green bcus he's acting like a fawking smug idiot.
- Brooks_Light

shot generation is just an indication of involvement

wrt green i dont disagree but in his defense hes being tasked with developing jake. he sees what kinda of player he can be and is trying to push him. jakes also been a hot topic since day one and some situations are tougher for him to avoid answering - ie why was jake in group 3 in camp, how did you like his game, etc. hes answered similarly to questions about goldy because those 2 seem to be the medias focus

lol. Love you chompsey but I ain’t wrong. Even with Hughes, reality is setting in for most of the enthusiasts in here.
- bloatedmosquito

Are people really worried about how Hughes has looked when the (frank)ing coach has him out there with a different AHL partner every other shift?

Could’ve gotten the chemistry growing pains out of the way in preseason, but why do that when you can see how he looks with Biega and Chatfield

There is no way he should be sent down. He has earned a spot and will provide a decent third line.

Jake won't be waived but very well could be traded once he has value again.

Goldy is waste management .

Trade Goldobin for goalie depth... someone in the AHL already who would be a usable call up for back up duties and win some games in Utica. Not going to get high quality but someone may take a shot at him if he already cleared.

We have 7 goalies under contract already....so no

picks would much much better - Goldy to Montreal for one of their 4, 4ths?

I think the Habs would wait to claim him rather than give the pick away. I doubt anyone would give a 4rth for him to be honest.

Goldobin for an decent AHL player with NHL depth value seems doable but only if he clears.

They'd trade a 4th for him because if they don't, LA will claim him before they can

I agree with the above but I got a feeling that injuries and sloppy work by coaching staff will take a toll on our record.
- bloatedmosquito

Green is learning like all starting coaches it will be interesting to see if he can pull extra wins out with a better roster. I think he can do it.

But yes you are correct injuries as always with this club will be the key. But fortunately we have a little more depth to get through them as opposed to the last 2-3 seasons. We finally have a few players that can step into a top 6 role or a top 4 D role and cover injuries.

Also goaltending. marky has looked good this preseason for the most part but I'm still not totally convinced he's a true #1. I'm hoping this year he proves me wrong.

Heard this mentioned somewhere else too and it's actually not a bad idea. Demko (to me) clearly isn't ready and I know everyone wants him as the backup but maybe the Team would benefit from an NHL 'experienced' backup?

This is a tough one.

This year he should have enough depth to work with to keep the team from free falling when injuries inevitably hit. As for the goalies, he doesn't have much of an excuse there. Marky/Demko is a good enough duo in this division. Look at the goalie duos the Flames, Oilers, Yotes and Sharks have.

Fair enough. I'm just hoping Demko isn't Schneider 2.0

Based on history, canucks need Mariana Trench depth to get through a season and still be competitive come playoff time.

Or, you can trade a lot of picks (or players if you have them) at the deadline to shore up your roster. I believe the last two times canucks made it to the cup final they did it that way.

I'm not thinking that. Demko will be fine backing up imo. I'm talking about a #3 upgrade to either replace Demko if injured or back him up if Marky gets hurt. Demko was very solid last season. He wins most of his games. I'm confident in him as a back up but if one of those guys is hurt, the call up will be scary and think what that will do for Utica over the span of the injury?

That movie had some fantastic moments but (frank) was it ever long. Too long to sit through in a theater.

I always thought of using Bill for an avatar.

Go with the guy from There Will Be Blood. The scene in the bowling alley suits you.

Hughes is a mixed bag at this point, I think his decision making was poor more often than not in the games I watched. Obviously it's preseason and he likely will look better on a more structured team.

Canucks need his offense and PR too badly to send him down but I wonder if it might actually be best for his development.

It's a shame Joulevi isn't further along in his development/rehab etc. To be able to take some pressure off the kid.
