Gaudette will get a chance, sooner rather than later. It's a numbers game and the last thing the Canucks need is to provide fodder for their whiney fanbase and lose a guy on waivers because they kept Gaudette.

What will happen is that they will try and make a move, failing that they will make moves to best protect the assets they want until an injury happens.

Deal with it guys, its a business first. It'll work out in the end...

Geez, where did all that summer optimism go?

The months of September and October is when summertime giddiness is replaced with regular season reality.

Season after season, I love watching the pom poms being quietly placed back into storage until next summer.

Favourite time of year.

I'll pom pom you right in the face bipolar....

Can you blame him? Why hasnt Green singled out Loui, Schaller, Pearson, Motte, Leivo?? Hell even Bo hasnt looked great.
- Brooks_Light

yes. hes played over 200 nhl games and this is the second time our of 4 training camps hes come in with his conditioning not where it needed to be. and outside his 'big game' in the split squad hes produced a single assist and been generally invisible

lol. Love you chompsey but I ain’t wrong. Even with Hughes, reality is setting in for most of the enthusiasts in here.

That's not the point - we're talking about being singled out when 5-7 other players with as many, some more games played are producing the same amount of nothing and are certainly not playing any better than him.

As for conditioning - Green talked about setting goals for him and them not being completely met - did he set the same goals for other players and were they met or not?

Truth be told I don't really give a fawk about Jake but i don't understand why others don't receive the same level of scrutiny he gets. And I've yet to hear anyone give a convincing answer.

Hilarious!!!

one argument - It's just pre-season stop taking things so seriously...

other argument - Pre-seasons over and based on it we've concluded the outcome of the entire year...

zero middle ground

i had a longer/blockier response but figured it wasnt worth it, so coles notes:

he gets the scrutiny imo largely because of his draft status and potential (which is probably unfair). pretty sure we all see how he could be great and its been disappointing that he is't making much progress towards it

the others have been generating more shots and being effective in special team roles that jake doesnt do. (though schaller seems inconsequential and likely cut imo)

re fitness - they obviously were met or not required. news of poor conditioning always comes out and says a lot about a player if they still need their hand held at 23

Prediction then?

And be smart about it don't lump yourself in with the other 'we want the team to lose on purpose' champs...

- LordHumungous

I don’t want them to lose but do want a decent position this coming draft. Top 10 if possible.

I think you’ll see same results this season as you did last. Just a lot more positives going into the summer this time around.

More positives than Ep's season and QH's first 6-7 games? Go on...

Maybe they are set and they are all met. Pretty simple. Jake just doesn't get what it takes to be a high end pro yet. Hopefully he figures it out before his time runs out

I dont think you have to worry too much about Sutter being the 3rd line winger, he will be the centre.

That's the worst outcome since he sucks the life out of his wingers

He sucks the life out his linemates' scoring regardless. The best outcome is he plays decent, maybe goes on a bit of a tear getting 8-10 in the first 40 games and we deal him mid-season allowing Gaudette to graduate.

I think our top 10 picking days are over for a bit.

Realistically (pat on the back) I have been close on points and drafting positions the past three seasons with predictions. Nothing here suggests a step back or a stale .500 club that picks 9th.

We've moved up 9 spots in the past 3 seasons and will be drafting out of the top 10 IMO.

Now having said that I still think we most likely miss the PO's. There will be some growing pains with the changes that were made to the roster but again nothing suggests a step back.

We should move up another 3-5 spots and just miss the PO's. But the season will be looked at as moving forward. Which is what the club needs anyways.

Gonna be fun

He gets scrutiny from US because of his draft # but so does Eriksson for his salary/lack of point production but again that's not what this is about - we're talking directly from Green. If generating more shots is the only argument again it's not at all convincing. I think Green has a personal agenda with Jake and thats fine but it's ridiculous that he's not singling out some other guys short comings as well. And it's certainly not a smart move by doing it through the media. At the end of the day, Jake has to be better but so does Green bcus he's acting like a fawking smug idiot.

But maybe not. maybe pretty hypocritical and confusing. Maybe not simple at all and quite blurring, to me it seems like some get a pass, have zero accountability and others gets called out publicly.
Pure speculation and chaos.

I agree with the above but I got a feeling that injuries and sloppy work by coaching staff will take a toll on our record.

If they want to sneak guys through, today is the day. With Gaunce and Weiss on waivers JV would be sure to slip through

Fired at the end of season if they don't make it? Ya I think it would be both though. JB and Green. Both or neither I think, package deal. You're right, that would be quite a bit of excitement.

Green is out of his element, shouldn’t be coaching the Canucks or in the NHL.

My personal opinion.
