1. I'm already on record saying that I believe Nylander will live up to the deal. I haven't said anything hateful about it.
2. You agree with my point that Marner is overpaid.

My point is that a short term deal like Tkachook or Point would have benefited the team, so why'd they give in and give up the cap space? They could have used the cap space in the next 3 years.

- kaptaan

Because as per my post above, the team that has to negotiate with a superstar who can accept a 1-year, $9 million contract and then skate right into unrestricted free agency is absolutely franked. Franked like you franking frank a franking franker.

The Leafs opted to rip off the bandaid.

From 1991 to the dawn of the Shanaplan, the Leafs opted to take short-term benefit over long-term planning.

Guess where that got us?

And guess how many times you came in here and laughed at us?

The Leafs now have 4 guys locked up long-term, and all but one can be dealt as an asset. You'd be surprised at how much I'm at peace with this.

OK, yeah. Not something I wanna think of every time.

You could replace those old horror noises cassettes on Halloween with that and get a better reaction in scaring people.

That sucks bro. Not a fan of going up onto roofs
- kaptaan

Yeah, me either. I can do it but I will protest. I don’t like heights to begin with, but going up ladders is not my idea of an enjoyable experience.

Goofing around

Classy Pun Lucas. A lone ptsd female Vet was accosted by 3 drunks at 3am. Thats some Law and Order stuff right there. Give that leader the "C". Maybe he will be motivated to shatter his career high 36 assists.

I watched my step dad fall off a thirty foot ladder onto grass, cracked his spine in several places but never did much to get it taken care of. Ladders are not my cup of tea.
- RafiDRW

poop, that's a long way to fall. I only fell 8 feet thankfully but I landed on pavement and the ladder and my right knee smashed off some cinder blocks.

Also ended up rolling my left ankle after getting up. Didn't hit my head, though.

I'm going to let it go. I don't want to upset you by trying to get a rationale for the signing for 6 versus 3 years.

Good for Toronto if they can make it work for themselves. Best of luck to them.

When my dad was 80, I caught him washing the roof of his solarium - think sloping glass roof.

I absolutely lost my poop. Phoned my brothers, threatened to kill him if we ever caught him on any ladder of any kind ever again.

I'll bet at 84 he's still doing it.

Because, you know, he paid off his house in 1974, he's on a full pension, but it's always good to save $100, amirite?

Going to the Leafs game tonight so won't be arguing with anyone here.

I think this is the first pre-season game I have been to that I recognize all the Leaf players?

Curious what the Habs lineup looks like?

Likely doesn't matter since I thought the Leafs(Marlies/Growlers) would get smoked on Monday.

Every time I hear the term “vertigo” I think back to the Halloween episode of That 70s Show and Fez falling off the roof in drag.

I've given it to you at least three times.

You sign a guy with potential superstar talent to a 3 year deal, and you are just setting yourself up for either a monster payout in 3 years, or 1 more year of his service and he walks.

It's not that hard a concept - unless you are purposely refusing to acknowledge what has been spelled out to you several times.

Would it help if I typed slower?

Why pay someone else to do a job you think you can do?

My dad at 83 fractured 3 ribs falling off a ladder while painting the outside of his house. It was the last time he painted that house.
