Sure, but I don't see Armstrong going into the season with breathing room of 200k. Never been his style as he likes some room to maneuver.

To reiterate this.....Sending Pouliot and Mackenzie Mac down gives you literally 212k or so in cap room. Hard to believe that is the plan imho.

You all are nutz, Faulk at 6.5 is a bargain. This makes the Blues immediately stronger.

Faulk can be a solid third line pairing. His PP numbers are average at best and his plus minus over the last several seasons is suspect too. Good move for the Cane's, time will tell for the Blue's. Big investment for a player is solid, but not elite or worth that kind of long term and coin.

Especially with a full NTC in the first 5 years of the deal.

Dont love it don't hate it. Its a hockey trade at its core. Armstrong extracting value where he can and maintaining leverage.

We knew Edmundson was gone after this year.

Ha it would be the first time the Blues have bought out a player. Army is a master at moving bad contracts. In the short term this is not a bad deal, It could look a little meh in the last 2 years though.

Carolina reportedly retaining 14% of Faulk's 2019-20 cap hit. That makes this deal work a lot better.

Overpay, would’ve just kept that package and cap space.

Effectively, this marks the end of the Petro era in St Louis. Parayko is going to become the #1 guy and Faulk will fill Parayko’s three spot. Likely, Bouw will play with Faulk. It’ll be interesting to see if Dunn gets first line minutes next to Parayko.

Curious to know if Armstrong is having conversations with Petro about what he wants to do. I could easily see Army shipping Petro to a market that he’s interested in playing (for the right deal) as a trial run before free agency. If the Blues had the opportunity to pick up a solid young player in exchange for Petro et al, and Petro gets a chance to test drive playing for another club, that seems like a win/ win...

Of course, I’d kill league parity by winning you guys like 4-5 cups

Blues traded up to get Bokk then trade him for a piece that doesn’t make sense right now. Paying almost 5 million for a 3rd line defensemen. Didn’t know if Eddy would play with us this season with him going to arbitration but this is an odd trade. If Petro is going to out price the Blues next season it makes sense. Just kind of wondering right now

hopefully Kostin and Kyrou can take the next step and become effective NHL quality top 6 players

Hopefully Thomas continues to improve. Can’t keep trading away young players in return for older players. Keep with the youth.

This deal was done in case Petro leaves imho.

The issue is that the Blues have the best Right D in the league which doesn't help a lot. You want the best top two pairs. Can Petro, Parayko or Faulk play their off side well? If not, you aren't going to get as much value for Faulk as you might think since his minutes will be lower.

- Jason Millen

Best right side in the NHL?

I'll take Burns, Karlsson, Prout.....but only because top 4 play so much - those 3 are the best 3 maybe in the entire league for sure

Bokk has a high ceiling, but Faulk is a HUGE upgrade over Eddy (who was overpaid at $3 mill per )... he should help the PP a TON. The contract is decent too. What is not to like? Plus, if Petro leaves our D-core will still be solid.
- cuethenoise

His pp rates are not very good.

He's a tweener who took a few steps back in his career. Now he'll answer if all the trade talk distracted him or his ceiling is lower than originally thought.

But his underlying numbers on the pp showed him to be Carolina's issue rather than help.

That got me thinking they are targeting a forward from the Peg. I hope it's Ehlers or Conner and not Laine. But could be Wheeler.
