I just think Marner and Matthews should have been signed to longer terms for the money. Tavares got $11M for 7 years. Fine to pay Matthews more but could have been 7 or 8 years plus C. Doesn't matter anymore if the brains can muddle through until the Cap goes up.

Kuch's contract is understated by lack of state income taxes on 41 games. Tampa has about $8.4M in cap space and that is with Domingue and Condon partially buried in AHL.

It's the trade off. I'm sure TB would have preferred longer term but a bridge makes sense. In 3 years Point is likely their centerpiece and demanding a lot more than it might have cost them today.
