I just think Marner and Matthews should have been signed to longer terms for the money. Tavares got $11M for 7 years. Fine to pay Matthews more but could have been 7 or 8 years plus C. Doesn't matter anymore if the brains can muddle through until the Cap goes up.
Kuch's contract is understated by lack of state income taxes on 41 games. Tampa has about $8.4M in cap space and that is with Domingue and Condon partially buried in AHL. - Leafsandbolts
You can bet Ferris (and all agents) point that out. Kucherov's deal in most other cities is 11 milly per year. It is what it is but FLA gets a 14-15% tax perk and ultimately players care more about net income then gross.

You are for sure correct, but I don't see how dubas doesn't counter that with two points.
1.) kucherov in Tampa doesnt take anything close to the endorsement income Marner takes in Toronto.
2.) want to save on the taxes, go play in the states. |

And if I'm Ferris (for poops n giggles) I point out that Kuch's deal takes him into his mid-30's whereas Dubie is getting MM for his most productive years (22-28).
And I agree Dubie's putting #1 in front of Marner but #2 wasn't a negotiating point. |

its so odd watching grown men get upset or lash out at a young girl trying to help the world.
that skeevy dude who asked out dumping trash in the ocean was gross. she answered his dumb question very well - senstroll
Climate change improvements are not going to happen with China, USA and India not participating. She gave an excellent speech. |

I smell a trade. The fringe guys should be traded off for young D men that could become useful. Brought up through the farm system. Our forward core is locked in for years. Time to develope the D core in the A. - bixll

Kucherov's deal for 8 years after a bridge contract.

they do... but they benefit from not having the "insiders" at TSN in their backyard, helping with contract negotiations and spoon feeding the new stars.

Fair.
But I still feel there would have been a bit of strength in telling him to beat it. Marner's hometown team, only one he wants to play for.
Call that bluff.
But still, dubas had to get him signed.... |

People are making the state taxes a way bigger deal then it is. Marner getting paid US dollars while living and playing in Canada is more of an advantage. |
