Even if the cap goes up and those guys cash in it's about cap %, and we have no idea what those teams and players will settle on. Doesn't change the fact the Dubas overpaid. You are trying to justify his over-payments by saying in this amount of time this is 'likely' to happen. They are up against it now and have 1 d man for next year.

I also never said the last 3 seasons. The only numbers from Point I brought up were last years. Stop making stuff up.

Well aware. But Bobby's making the point that those dollars earned in US are spent in US (in the US) but spent in Cdn (in Canada) ...meaning players get better bang for their buck up here and shouldn't female dog n moan about high taxes.

Problem is as LeafBoltsy pointed out the cost of most things up here has already been converted and as I pointed out the cost of living in Toronto is (frank)ing nuts relative to most US cities.

Could be. But either way, havign these massive cap hits is hurting the Leafs from icing a cup winning team. Their depth is bad. Bottom 2 lines are weak and the defense is offense first. I will happily eat crow at years end if this group makes it passed the first riound.

I take no joy in saying this, but I disagree. The left's message just isn't resonating outside of their traditional strongholds.

Maher is right when he says everyone on the left is so particular, and they don’t galvanize around a common issue. I think a lot of those 50 something white dudes are going to get sick of their kids and grandkids saying the same things in saying. Something’s shifted imo... I disagree. Dubas has shown the ability to sign College and Europe FA’s and turn them into something cheap.

There is a price to pay for players of Matthews/Marner caliber.

Marner’s stings a little, but I’m willing to wait to see if he can prove me wrong on how good he is.

Having Matthews and Marner ask for 15 million dollar deals in 3 years would hurt the leafs a lot more. Considering who is up for new deals.
