Nope, it’s made up that they will ask for more in 5 years.
It’ll be easy.
That’s a “what if” - Santo_44
The Leafs have one defensemen under contract for NEXT YEAR. They will have to shed cap again after this season, meaning like this summer, more guys leaving and being replaced with Spezza's and Cecis. |

Need to start working Liljegren and Sandin into the regular rotation since it often takes years for young defence rookies to stabilize. |

I'm fine with Nylander because of the term. Cap hit under $7 million? Not a problem.
I'm fine with Matthews because he may be the 2nd best player in the league this year.
Marner was given too much. - Atomic Wedgie
Agreed on all 3; |

Sandin is being paired with Marincin, so he better learn real quick. Sandin will be expected to play both the right side and the left side on every shift he takes with Marincin. |

This is REALLY troubling IMO... we're in for another year of Matthews trying to produce playing 16min a night and Aberg on the ice down 1 goal with a minute left, aren't we... |

I agree, the 893K overpayment per season was fear of a repeat of the Nylander situation last season - which was untenable this year.

You are hopeless.
You say the Leafs are (frank)ed in 5 years for signing said players.
But then when I say they would have a hard time in 3 years you call it a “what if”.
The fact here is that the cap is going to go up, likely a lot. It has the potential to really cash in these RFA’s after 3 years.
If it does it would of been a disaster to have Matthews, Marner, Nylander, Rielly, Andersen, Kap, Sandin, Liljegren to all have deals ending at the same time.
Edit: and lol no, Point has not been as productive as Matthews the past 3 seasons. Come on now. - Santo_44
I never said that at all. I said they overpaid all three, making it hard ion the cap now and going forward.
Even if the cap goes up and those guys cash in it's about cap %, and we have no idea what those teams and players will settle on. Doesn't change the fact the Dubas overpaid. You are trying to justify his over-payments by saying in this amount of time this is 'likely' to happen. They are up against it now and have 1 d man for next year.
I also never said the last 3 seasons. The only numbers from Point I brought up were last years. Stop making stuff up. |
