Everything your saying is anecdotle and what-ifs. 15 million? Again, that's made up. - aminnes
So let’s just keep signing players to 1 year deals.
The fact that Matthews will ask for more next year is made up. |

Signing them all is still going to be a nightmare though. Unless the cap 'surges' to like, 100 million - which isn't happening. - aminnes
Nope, it’s made up that they will ask for more in 5 years.
It’ll be easy.
That’s a “what if” |

This is the best Leafs team in decades, yet all I ever read is complaining.
Championships are for closers only. You people aren’t closers, you’re losers. Why does closer and loser not rhyme? Because Kyle (frank)ing Dubas. Kiss my ass. I’m joining a fan base that never complains, that always cheers on their team, that has the best Centre/Captain/Coach/GM in the modern era. Oh, and you bet I’m buying some matching jorts. GO SABRES. - Steven_Seagull

I've got that sinking feeling that Matthews and/or Marner aren't going to live up to their huge contracts. Thus the cycle of this city chasing said player(s) out of town will begin anew... |

Points deal, although a bridge, makes Nylanders, Matthews, and Marners deals look awful cap hit wise. It's safe to say Dubas, as a rookie GM, is a poor negotiator. - aminnes
Meh, I think Nylander is expendable. IF they have to, they trade him if even the return isnt great to get the cap back. Dubas said he had no intention to trade him...at that time. Doesnt mean ever.
We dont know what we dont know. Who knows what the cap will be next year. One thing for sure next summer will have a whole whack of crap to talk about once Muzz, Ceci and Barrie are up. There is what, just over 10 mill right there? |

Didn't Lindros sign like 3 one deals with NYR .... or may they tried to and the NHL said no way |

Question?
If Muzzin, Ceci and Barrie leave, who the frank do we replace them with? |

That wasn't the issue. For the next 3 seasons a player one year older, proven 40 goal center (similar player), is making almost 5 million less per, or a Muzzin. In fact he is making less than a 60 point 20 goal winger. Dubas overpaid. All 3 of them.

You are hopeless.
You say the Leafs are (frank)ed in 5 years for signing said players.
But then when I say they would have a hard time in 3 years you call it a “what if”.
The fact here is that the cap is going to go up, likely a lot. It has the potential to really cash in these RFA’s after 3 years.
If it does it would of been a disaster to have Matthews, Marner, Nylander, Rielly, Andersen, Kap, Sandin, Liljegren to all have deals ending at the same time.
Edit: and lol no, Point has not been as productive as Matthews the past 3 seasons. Come on now. |

I'm fine with Nylander because of the term. Cap hit under $7 million? Not a problem.
I'm fine with Matthews because he may be the 2nd best player in the league this year.
Marner was given too much. |
