I have owned a place south of Tampa for over 30 years.

Tampa is not an expensive city.

Real estate is reasonable and was down right depressed in GFC.

Cost of living depends on your lifestyle but I think is a lot less than most nhl cities except for Columbus.

- Leafsandbolts

I'm looking at a site thet says it's 3.28% higher Than Montreal.

if Marner keeps his pace up from last season and JT is touching 40-50 goals it was worth every penny.

9.5-10 was my # but I can live with what Dubas signed him for

His team comparable is MacKinnon..

So, Rantanen will sign for 3 years at 6.5M per season..

- PatC80

Mike Liut sounds like he's aiming a little bigger for both Laine and Rantanen. But 3 yr deals between 7 and 8 wouldn't surprise. That's about the same as 6 x 9.5 or 10.

In the absolute depths of the GFC, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac set up a website with all the foreclosed properties across the US of A.

I was seriously considering buying a house on the east coast of Florida. IIRC, it was about the same latitude as Tampa. It was on a street that had beach access. I think it was $60,000 (and at the time, our dollars were at par).

My plan was to bulldoze it, lay down gravel, and simply wait until the market picked up again.

I shoulda done it.

My step father bought a condo in West Palm that was $895k for $172K cash. Beautiful place, even has marble baseboards.

If the Leafs win the Stanley Cup this year, the salary cap will go up by $70 million per team, based upon MLSEL profits.

Keep your fingers crossed, and keep buying that beer at the ACC!

I have a similar story ..although on the atlantic coast. We were close to pulling the trigger but Ms. Law got cold feet ...I still rant to her about it when I'm drunk.

We're really really really concerned about how we're going to pay our 7th dman and back up goalie. This poop keeps us up at night!

I don't know, I think he needs to average at least 100 points per season for the next 3 seasons for him to be worth the contract. The only way he could exceed expectations is if he wins the Art Ross.

For some reason, I was weirdly fascinated by the real estate crash back then - I was reading everything I could on it.

The thought of buying a condo scared me, because there were a few stories about complexes where half the units had been abandoned, so the remaining owners were left with huge bills for upkeep.

But wow, you could get condos for stupid cheap.

I've seen people chop them at the base so they grow sideways

so what now, 1 week or so of hang time then your gold?
