Yeah, sorry i do agree that Nylander's deal is actually good and on par to where it should be.
Not too happy with Matthews' and certainly not happy with Marner's.
Bolded is (frank)ing stupid if it's true. - walshyleafsfan
I was pretty pissed when i heard it was a part of the discussion too. Then last week they reported the 7 x 11 offer from the Leafs and that it included the 4.8 million in bonus money. That's pretty early to put that on the table so it makes me think that maybe ...maybe ...it was always agreed that the Leafs owed MM a solid.
Looking back at how it all played out they had told MM no way you get those b/c we (Lou) never gives those bonuses ...then the very next year they give them to AM ....I can see how that'd be viewed as a (frank) you by MM. So maybe they said we'll fix it going forward.
It was reportedly in the 7 x 11 offer so that smells to me like they had made some promises. |

The Leafs always get boned. completely crazy the difference in contracts. Watch Rantanen sign 8.8 x 8 now - Archaic
It wouldn't surprise anyone. The attention in TO messes everything up. Plus the fact we have a young GM who is doing his own thing...

So per LeBrun, last year of Points deal is 9mil. Thus, his fourth year before UFA would be at least 9.9 for his qualifying offer. Therefore, 6.75 x 3 +9.9 = 30.15 / 4 years = 7.54 mil per. At least a little more palatable? |

Perhaps, or Point could take the 1 yr deal at 9.9M and then tell Tampa to frank themselves |

will be interesting to see what Rantanen signs for... 'cause the Avs don't have the CAP crunch that the Bolts have....

It's actually $6.75 no bonuses no up front money, not back end loaded -
straight $6.75 x 3
What makes the Marner deal look bad right now is Point would have to sign for about $15.03 per year to be even with Marner in earnings (outside of tax savings of course) after six years. But that's a fvcked up number if you ask me. - winsix
marner's 3 lowest years for salary are $8M each.
the average of his 3 high years is $13.8M.
i suppose if point comes in around $12.5M average on his next deal then marner's deal is close to fair given florida's tax advantage.
idk. marner's deal wasn't cheap. |

His team comparable is MacKinnon..
So, Rantanen will sign for 3 years at 6.5M per season..

I have owned a place south of Tampa for over 30 years.
Tampa is not an expensive city.
Real estate is reasonable and was down right depressed in GFC.
Cost of living depends on your lifestyle but I think is a lot less than most nhl cities except for Columbus. - Leafsandbolts
In the absolute depths of the GFC, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac set up a website with all the foreclosed properties across the US of A.
I was seriously considering buying a house on the east coast of Florida. IIRC, it was about the same latitude as Tampa. It was on a street that had beach access. I think it was $60,000 (and at the time, our dollars were at par).
My plan was to bulldoze it, lay down gravel, and simply wait until the market picked up again.
I shoulda done it. |

if Marner keeps his pace up from last season and JT is touching 40-50 goals it was worth every penny.
9.5-10 was my # but I can live with what Dubas signed him for |
