If he goes on the trip...thats a good sign...if not = not good... - bogiedoc
From what Stan told Powers on Saturday, here’s my guess.
He sticks with the team out of camp
He plays NHL games when he’s healthy
They make a decision when they actually see him play in NHL games
Here’s Stan’s quote:
He’s got to rejoin the team for practice first,” Bowman said. “He’s not there yet. It’s obviously a good sign that he’s on the ice. At some point, hopefully, he’ll join the team, and that point he’s still not ready to play in a game. He’s going to have to be ready to play a game, which could take a week, two weeks, three weeks, I don’t know. I think we’re just being patient with it.
“We don’t have to make a final decision on him by Tuesday. The decision is, are we going to keep him for the year or not. That’s a big decision because once we loan him back to his junior team, assign him there, he’s not coming back until that team finishes their season, which could be May or it could be March, depending on how they do. That is the decision point, but we’re not at that decision point yet. All I’m focused on right now is, let’s be patient, make sure he feels good, there’s no reason to rush him along. There’s no timeline.” |

Starting to wonder if they aren't slow playing him, or at least being overly cautious.
Kind of have a loophole to keep him around. Could Keep him around practicing for a while.
Assume though, when they get back from Europe he has to take one of the 23 roster spots, although guess they could IR him and keep him even longer. |

Anybody else think that's a bad trade and an overpay for Faulk for the Blues?
Was always afraid stan was going to trade one of the top prospects for Faulk, guess we are past that.

Guess that means they are letting Pieterangelo go free agent after this year, I mean right now Faulk would be 3rd pairing right handed defenseman after Pieterangelo and Parenko.

Idk, maybe, it's hard to think they would treat the captain like that. I hate the Blues, so it's all funny to me. |

The Carolina GM must have been inextricably linked to Gardinar and to the team staying under the salary cap. Without checking mathematics this appears plausible if Gardner replaces Faulk's role. Edmunson and other renumeration for Faulk was palable when other trade talks btoke down? Perhaps so. Recoup something for Faulk and overall Gardner onky cost money, so the fact that Faulk may be more desirable talent -wise than Edmunson is not a big deal. I would see a big pi tute now wheras an Edmunson or TVR could be dangled. For what ......who knows...maybe to add someone up front ( forward) whom provides Carolina another look. A more capable playoff opponent? Maybe. But i didn t watch tbe Carolina - Washington playoff match last spring all to closely. I did wonder if J Stahl underoerformed - his name and role was quiet? So anyway Carolina has exchanged a few parts for next season. Our Carolina blogger could say what he feels is better or worse for the Canes this upcoming season. |

Apparently Lehner has left practice with an injury. |

Good point. It pains me to say anything positive, but Pietrangelo is better at his position though. Backes sucks wherever you put him. |

Stan could have got Faulk for less and re-signed him for less too. |

Lehner exited Tuesday's practice after suffering an undisclosed injury, Charlie Roumeliotis of NBC Sports Chicago reports.
Lehner's injury isn't believed to be overly serious, but he'll almost certainly miss Wednesday's preseason matchup with Washington. The 28-year-old Swede is poised to split the load in goal with Corey Crawford this campaign. |

I really don't understand this move by the Blues. They'll be stacked on the right side for this year for sure, but they can almost guarantee that Pietrangelo is gonna be gone and if he isn't then they're gonna have close to 20M locked up in three RHD. Doesn't' make a whole lotta sense to me right now but maybe they're thinking ahead on things |

Go on Stan , go get Joel Edmundson , kid is a tough kid that plays a simple stay at home game, that is if Carolina is looking to trade him. The kid is probably upset being traded from the Stanley Cup champs, and probably would love a chance to come back to the Central and ring up some of those guys. I like his game. He can play in today’s game and is a tough kid. |

Lehner is injury prone and not dependable.
