I have a very hard time believing Morin would make it through waivers.

He wouldnt, there is no reason for a GM not to take a risk on the guy. Edmonton would take him 100% for sure

FWIW, I personally think that Tragically Hip are pretty mediocre, at best.

Pronman has Hayton ranked #11 and Frost #28 for the Athletic’s top prospects. FWIW
Without going into the narratives. They score equally in all categories except “physical player” in which Hayton is ranked significantly higher.

Frost I think has a higher ceiling and more offensive upside

Hayton is probably safer with a higher floor but does not have the same upside Frost has.

So depends on what you value more.

I think this, and that matters.

What other people think doesn't matter and is irrelevant because they're not me.

You have it 100% completely wrong. As usual, you're looking to make something out of nothing.

Pronman rankings are based on ceiling.

...But for me my view of prospects is based on a multitude of levels (skillset, intangibles, size, etc) and also factors in the organization that drafts the player. Is Hayton more likely to play for Arizona this year than Frost on the Flyers? Who would get more ice time based on the roster depth, coaches and style they play? Prospect with the same ceiling can very easily have different impacts in their career based on the team and other factors involved.

Would Daigle have the same career if he was drafted by another team? Well he could of had a worst career or he could of had a better one, but one thing is certain his career would not be the same.

Whether Pronman looks at those factors when ranking, I have no clue.

I don't see why any prospect ranking would take into consideration who drafted the player, team's roster or coaches and style they play when looking at prospects.

I get what you're saying, but when a player is drafted, the organization will make the pick based on what is best for the team, not the player. I don't think the player's ranking, if it carries any weight, should be impacted by what team picked him, it should be based on his skill sets both on and off the ice.

For instance, if the Flyers had played Sam Morin in his draft year due to a less than ideal set of defenseman, that doesn't mean that he should be ranked higher than guys like Drouin and Horvat.

As for Daigle, his problem was that he never really dedicated himself and played because it came easily to him at lower levels and he could make a lot of money doing it. So I don't think a different team would have a drastic impact on his career. At some point, you either have it or you don't for 99% of players (guys like Knuble being exceptions).

Edit: In the end, the rankings don't matter, only the player does.
