15 goals in the bottom 6 last year

people need to get over his draft position, he's not going to be a top 6 forward.

- Nucker101

He's young, still too early to tell. Look at big Bert. You're probably right though.

He also spent a decent chunk in the top 6 last year too. I don't care about his draft position. It's his effort and consistency, much like it was with Kassian, that are his downfall. He has to want it: he says that, but doesn't show it often enough.

I think he's lazy, and not too smart. Hockey's tough, it's even tougher if you're stupid.

Roland McKeown is on waivers.

Canucks could pick him up and waive 1 of Beiga/Fantenberg. Benning could then claim Linden Vey never happened.

14:49 avg TOI isn't top 6 minutes, but it is fairly close.

I'm kind of surprised the number was even that high, I feel like I can only recall him playing limited time even last year.

No one laughing at the Brayden Point signing today for 6.75 and Boeser at 5.8 while Marner signs at 10.8 . Dubas has to be the dumbest GM ever plus giving up 2 firsts

Leave Jake alone
- Nucker101

Jake is like a high maintenance chick. The time you need to spend on them doesn't justify the rewards. At first you put in the time just trying to get a little action from them but after a while you are helping them set up their profile so they look good for the next poor schmuck.

Funny that Ferland went 18 and 25 in his first two basically full NHL seasons.

JV last two seasons has gone 20 and 25. So if Jv hits 40 points this year he's as good as Ferland and should get first line duties? Pretty sure Ferland has spent a lot of time playing with 1st line players the last two seasons he's hit 40 points.

I said TG needed to evolve this season for the Canucks to make a splash. Haven't seen much of it yet.

virtanen and ferland took almost identical number of shots last year and the difference in these shot maps is why jake is frustrating to me. lots of outside/low percentage shots and not enough in the middle of the ice... very similar to goldy's

Exactly, part of this is because Jake doesn’t know what do once his linemates have control of the puck in the offensive zone. His positioning away from the puck sucks, he relies almost solely on scoring off the rush and/or taking low percentage shots.

His low hockey sense and lack of confidence in puck handling hurts him. A guy like Bo has the confidence in his puck handling to challenge dmen on the rush and try to take the puck to the net/slot for a shot.

A guy like Ferland knows exactly where to be when his more skilled linemates have the puck in the offensive zone.

So those guys generate better quality shots while Jake relies more on long range wrist shots off the rush and bad angle fluke goals. That’s why he’s better suited as a bottom 6 winger and will be a frustrating fit with centers like EP and Bo.

Agree except the part where he’s not a fit with Bo... Bo plays the game Virtanen would if he had confidence, will, & another half dozen IQ pts. They’re very compatible IMO, but JV doesn’t belong in the top 6.

I thought brock's was a great deal but Point's is un(frank)ing real.

I get why Dubas caved early, with they way Nylander struggled last year, he can't have his most productive player going through that this year.

I actually think it goes back to the Mathews contract...thank go we lost the lottery and picked Joulevi.

Your anti-Horvat for Captain Campaign #narrative is clouding your judgement. Horvat's playmaking has improved drastically. I know Pre-season but that pass last game to Baertschi was a good example of it. A couple years ago he would charged the net and tried to jam it in.

I think he has done a really bad job IMO. Almost half the salary cap on 4 players and no D. Giving up multiple high draft picks. They have a small window so they need t strike quick

Hey, Vantel...not trying to hype the Leafs, but Reilly, Barrie and Muzzin should get some credit. They are better than “no D”, this season, but certainly not deep and certainly not locked in.

I think JB & Brock struck a pretty fair deal and that will help the Canucks over the next 3-4 years.

I definitely think they could of done better with their contracts but we've also seen teams have success with top heavy rosters.

I think they got good before they had expected and are paying the price for that. Ceci's contract and Zaitsev's stand out to as the truly bad contracts IMO.

They'll be able to make some room when they need to by moving Kapenen, Johnsson or Nylander. It will be interesting to see how Barrie does and if they can keep him.

Barrie and Muzzin are not signed past this year. My reference was aimed at they have one Dman signed for next year. I should have been more specific

This season is TO's big shot. That D will be broken up next season. There will be a new coach if they flop in the playoffs. Riverboat gamblers.

Truth. On the other hand...2M people crowded the streets of TO to watch Kawhi Leonard and the Raptors parade their trophy. Sometimes gambles are worth taking and sometimes (perhaps rarely) they pay off.

I am pumped for the Canucks to continue to improve and I love the young talent (Bo, Brock, EP & Hughes), but I’d be surprised & delighted to see them make the playoffs this year.
