Looks like AV is a much more experienced coach now, having gone through two teams and twelve years of learning since he joined your sad sack team. Any money on Philly making the playoffs while the Canucks don’t? - DraftandDestroy
I don't think if Gaudette makes it you have to move Sutter . Why not move Sven and have the depth with Sutter - VANTEL
Benning needs to abandon this “if he earns it we’ll make room” mentality and do what’s best for the team long term. Who cares if Gauds has to play a dozen or 20 games in the AHL. Hell, send Pettersson down to keep a guy on the roster, put a guy on IR, make a trade, whatever. Be ruthless with roster decisions, don’t give anything away for free.

Sutter sucks as a winger and I doubt they want to play AG on the wing in place of giving him big C minutes in Utica.
They are talking about playing AG in all the preseason games. There is a tougher decision than just waiving a couple of 4rth line wingers I think. I really don't feel they are looking at him that hard if he can't make the team regardless. Disagree with the "you did well but we have to send you down anyways" idea. They are trying to work out a decision they cant reverse in my opinion.
Keeping Sutter is the safe option for sure. He looks solid so far.
1st trading an nhl roster player for a player who is having a problem convincing the OILERS he belongs is flat out retarded.
2nd trading a healthy, fast, durable player for a 21 yr old guy who's already had multiple hip surgeries.....thats full out short bus retarded.
Lastly Jake needs time to develop. Expect him to improve every year but blossom around 25. He will be a force. There's also his speed which is a weapon on its own. We are best to keep him unless it's for something very good - SMBDragon
When were the other hip surgeries? Through his time with the Oilers, the only hip surgery he's had has been this year and that was apparently to correct some kind of joint problem caused by something in his workout regimen.

Firstly, I always thought it was regiment. But you’re right, “a prescribed medical treatment” no T. Secondly it suits our needs better if it’s multiple problematic traumas when trying to trade our bust for yours. Just go with it.

That's better than thinking it was workout regime like I did a few years back
As for the latter part, it's almost as if that's the normal state of being for people- overvalue your own while undervaluing the opposition. Besides, discussing trades would be boring if there was a set, objective standard for value.
setting a career high in goals (19) and points (35) last year are heading in the wrong direction? a 20 goal/40 points is the dream season for jake - johnnykarate
Regardless of what you think of JV his numbers are headed in the right direction.
McCann's aren't. - LordHumungous
Whatever your opinion is of Jake, I'm not sure how you think the second half is true. He was nearly .5 ppg for the season, and better than that after the trade in Sutter's old spot on the 3rd line in Pit. He's certainly progressing.
i can take the argument that jake has unique potential but he hasnt seemed to figure out how to play like literally everyone else sees him capable of doing.
and if mccann continues to play a lot with crosby and guentzel like last year hell be in for a big year. too bad vancouver didnt hang on to him so he could play next to an allaround allstar and a sniper too...
