While the temptation to "Sell high" on Petry is there, he's also a big part of our puck moving D, and is a great fit on the 2nd wave PP, where we badly need to improve. If we're at the trade deadline, and out of the playoffs, sell then... Don't shoot yourself in the foot before we start playing games that matter.
- Darksyde

I so wouldn’t trade Petry, the man has been a godsend over the last two seasons with Weber injured so often. It’s given him a chance to shine and boy did he take it! We need to wait for our d prospects to mature before we entertain moving Petry in my opinion.

Suzuke should make the team

Could a legit 1st pair D be had if a package of Drouin Mete be offered? (Picks and blabla)

- WaterBoy

Do you really think Bergevin is ready to give up on Drouin? I don’t see it happening, not yet anyways. I think they’ll try to get him to produce alongside KK before they officially give up on him and if Suzuki earns a top 6 spot on the wing, they might even be kinda forced to do so...wouldnt be a bad thing for KK to be flanked with something besides Finns who cant finish or poor Byron who can’t catch a break from the injury ninja lately...

I totally agree. We may have some good D prospects in the proverbial cupboard, but they're not ready to A) Play the minutes the Petry does, or B) Replace the goals that Petry scores. For all the wishing that we want Mete to start scoring, his game is nowhere near ready for the role. I'd almost call Petry Markov lite. He advances the play, and has that ability to step up on the rush to score and/or set up the forwards. Unless we can guarantee to replace that back end potential, trading him would be a huge mistake.

KK has a worse camp than Drouin so far.

Sophomore slump? Would not surprise me if he spends some time in Laval this season

To be fair, Drouin has been put in situations with the team's best player.

KK has to play with Joel Armia, who's an offensive black hole.

And Charles Hudon who misses 90% of the open nets he gets.

If that guy just scored on 50% of the great chances he gets/creates, he'd be having a great camp.

But it's getting tiresome to watch him fail to score over and over.... at some point you stop believing that the goals are coming.

Unlike Lehkonen.

So it's because of Armia that he's taking dumb lazy slashing penalties?

Wonder if MB will be able to get rid of some guys via trade.

I don't think they have any value, clubs know sooner or later they can get them for free on waivers

Yup, they're doing great.

I know it won't happen but I'd rather see these guys in the lineup than Thompson/cousins/Folin or whatever.

On behalf of Leafs Nation, I'd like to apologize to all Habs fans who paid money to see tonight's game.

Enjoy watching guys who may not make the Marlies.

Yikes.

In name only.

Honest to goodness, there isn't a guy on the roster tonight who I would give a >50% to make the big club.

Maybe Petan.

Agostino has looked good in camp, but he's still not going to make it.

Maybe one of the d makes it as the 7th guy until Dermott comes back from injury.

This is embarrassing.

Too good.

Leafs Nation is already talking about him making the big club.

Which just warms my heart - it's been a while since we've taken a young defenceman and destroyed his career by giving him too much, too soon.

It's a Leafs tradition!

Week 1: "This guy is the next Bobby Orr!"

Week 7: "This guy is the worst franking defenceman we have ever had. I'd rather have Aki Berg back! You get the pitchforks, I'll get the torches - we need to run this franker out of town!!!"

Gawd, I hate Leafs Nation.
