Gotta say, there seems to be relatively little enthusiasm for the Sabres around here, even with the season quickly approaching. Anyone have opinions on why this might be?
- PrinceChill

I am very enthusiastic and excited for the season however I do not express those opinions around here for fear of being shunned. Tank on!

Whatever anyone's opinions are, they're (frank)ing stupid.

You know what's interesting? Corn. Corn's a very interesting topic.

I am cautiously pessimistic

The forwards are not good enough, and players like Sobotka are still here

I am excited to watch the Sabres again, and will be rooting hard for them to win.
My expectations are for them to finish with 84+ points, the wild card being Ralphie-boy's impact on the players...can he get them 10 more wins collectively through a better system and motivating them to be their best? Also, having better players in the Top 9 and 2nd/3rd pairing can only help.

I'm interested to see those players we expect to be here next season, see how they improve their play.

Krueger is going to spin this season into a learning season for him and the team, he will say he tried to get everything he could out of:

Larsson
Girgs
Sobotka
Wilson
Scandella
Bogo
Okposo
TT

Out of playoffs by mid January.

Yup.

And I don’t think anyone posted it, but apparently Jim Rutherford is willing to part with Bjugstad

Two years at 4.1 mil for a 40 point C/W.

They love bad D men.

Scandella and a 2nd

I would offer even more, Redmond? McCabe straight up? He would do very well in the Sabres system IMO

I posed that question to Jcrag and he asked if Pilut and a 3rd would do it. Pilut is a non-starter in a trade for Bjugstad.

Yeah no way.

I’d consider Risto for Bjugstad if they add a piece

If Canada wasn't another country and Toronto was a US City and there would be a 360 degree radius of suburbs around the city instead of only maybe 280 or so Buffalo would have a much larger media market. It's too bad Buffalo doesn't get to count the Southern Ontario market in many respects.

I play adult league down here in TN with a guy from Fort Erie. His guess is that from the boarder past St. Catherines there are more Sabres fans than leafs fans.

Well, I wasn't trying to dictate things.

Houston has always had a huge hockey fanbase, surprisingly. Pretty sure it was considered over Dallas at one point, but the North Stars moving there put the nix on that.

Boise, Idaho

Sioux Falls, SD

Fargo, ND

That's more what I had in mind. The Dakotas would be a fantastic place to put hockey, they love their college hockey as it is over there.

- BeadyEyedDouche

Gonna go on record as a Sioux Falls resident that a team here wouldn't be sustained. Fargo would have a better shot, but we have a hard time having nice things. If we had a professional team of any kind, no one would want to play here. I love it because it's small enough to not be a big city, but still has some big city amenities. And just for an example, Winnipeg pop is around 750K people, Sioux Falls is closer to 200K

This about sums it up for me as well.

and it sucks. I'm generally an optimistic person. I just don't think that there was enough done up front to make a difference. We struggled to get secondary scoring last year and it doesn't seem like a whole lot of what was done is going to help there the way we need it to.

I guess we have to wait and see how Johansson and Vesey do. The problem is that I feel like a lot of it hinges on which version of Mittelstadt we see and so far, it doesn't seem like the version we need.

This x100

Although it looks like they already pulled the plug on Mitts at 2C and gave it to Mojo. And there's this from the BN:

"He can't overthink the game. He's got a high hockey IQ and he's very skilled," Rodrigues said. "Just play his game. As a center, there's a lot of work to be done but if we do play together we can both play on the wing and at center and can help each other out. He has to play his game, make plays, just read and react and that's what he's good at. We'll try to get him doing that this week."

So it looks like he and Erod will be switching center responsibilities based on what's happening in game

Sounds good to me. We have to offload a lot of dead weight too. We might have 5 7th. Rounder next year with the poop pile we need to clear out.

I feel like this needs to be said again. Redmond is not signed by the Sabres they can’t trade him.
