True dat. The culture in the NHL has changed too. Used to be tough, hard nosed kids just happy to play anywhere they were given an opportunity. Lindros started the shift of babies

Point was that we are barely beating these crappy teams, while the Pats are blowing them out

The Bills’ start has been awesome
But i don’t think we are legit challengers YET to the Patriots

The spread is Suprisingly low.

-7 or -7 1/2

Vegas knows we're good at football

Even with a team friendly deal for Point, TB will be in trouble next year. $74m in salary with 14 players signed. Only two guys don't have a NMC or NTC (unsure if Point has one) and their combined salary is only $3.35m. Even with an increase in the cap they may have only around $10m in space to sign 9 guys, including RFAs like Cirelli.

I'm not going to sit here and have a (frank)ing pity party for this city. We've been great before and we can do it again.
- TheSabresTaco

I wouldn't call it a pity party, just laying out the realities and the extra lengths cities like Buffalo have to go to in order to compete. Or make miracle trades nad hit on more later round picks...management issues.

While being honest, Sobotka, Okposo and 1 of Larsson and Girgs make opening night. Botts slow played this plan and will continue to do so.

Sure, but that's actually not a bad thing for them. They can trade good assets to get more assets (picks, young players). They aren't in a situation where they have pay other to take a bad contract.

Have to think with the Seattle expansion and the added revenue that the cap will go up, by how much who knows

Didn't the Vegas expansion revenue not count towards the cap figure?

I would think the new TV contract would have a bigger impact.

They generate a lot of initial revenue from merchandise sales and stuff that does count. The franchise fee didn't. If they counted the entire fee at one time, it would do insane things to the cap.

This

The HRR (Hockey Related Revenue) jumped with ticket sales, merchandise, concession etc

And yes the new TV deal will help raise it even more

Start getting prepared to be disappointed. We'll be out of it by early March. Somewhere around 88 points. Miss the playoffs by 10 to 12 points. But i am OK with it because they have 10 UFA's on this roster with all the trash except Okposo being taken to the curb at the end of this season.

Exactly the way I see it...Ralphie-boy's impact is the wild card here...can he motivate them and be savvy enough himself to will them to 10 more wins?

I understand that, but I also think the league caught lightning in a bottle with Vegas being so good so fast. I'm not sure you can expect the same level out of Seattle, though it still should be good.

I think Seattle will sell out their season tickets just as quickly as Vegas did.

The merchandise sales probably won't be as crazy unless the team is really good but depending on their nickname they could have some awesome merch

In some aspects it did but not in all, such as merch sales counted i believe but the franchise fees didn't so not a huge spike in cap but could bump it up

It will be interesting to watch from afar, to be sure.
McPhee did a masterful job in manipulating the "process" to his advantagee.
GM's have learned, but so has the GM for Seattle.
Will be fun to watch.

I think your assessment is spot on though.
