It would be nice if -

-A top pairing D man only wanted to play here because his wife was a doctor
- We won a top pick in the draft lottery after not being a bottom 5 team
- a superstar UFA chose to sign here

The Rangers get benefits the Sabres never will get

- OneKaneOneCup

This will be on TP and KP headstone

Net income comparison, for those curious (after tax, etc): Point's $6.75M AAV in Tampa is the equivalent to $8.56M in Toronto

Problem with the NHL in a nutshell. Canadian teams have to pay a 20-30% tax and value fee

Sounds like more of a solution than a problem to me.

That's not a Buffalo problem that's half the leagues problem. Big cities always attract better everything.

NYR:
I am excited to watch the new Rangers, they flipped that roster without tanking. Kakko is going to look t*tt*es with the Bread man.

NJD:
I didn't think Hall and Hughes would look as good as they did from drop of the puck, if Hughes can avoid hits and play 75 games

Panthers:

I'm not worried about, there is too good of a life outside of the rink for the Russians to give 100%

We are close to Canada. Skinner is from the Toronto area and loves that his family and friends can just drive down to see him play.

That’s a definite must pro.

Can't the Canadian teams just offer Tire Money or something?

I think is was here, TO or bust. Big plus for him signing here for sure. Problem with other Elite opportunities is they will want to play in TO vs Buffalo 9 time out of 10. It’s the equivalent of being a Yankee in NYC

I can't believe this tired narrative is still being kicked around. This might be true in the NBA but certainly not in NHL (with the exceptions of the Russians) or NFL. Have a good team and good ownership and the people will come.

I’m offered 8mil a year to play in Edmonton or 6.5 to play in Anaheim. Hmmm. Have you ever been to Edmonton? Makes Buffalo look like Miami

I'm sure it does. There is an assumption here that everything else is equal which of course is never ever ever ever true. Am I playing with McDavid? Are the Ducks heading downhill? Taxes? Competent GM? Family situation?

We better tell all of the unhappy Dolphins players about the nice beaches near their big city.

You’re right, but it’s why the Rangers never really have to rebuild.

It’s why Toronto can do it in one year because they get a superstar to play for them In UFA

It’s why Tampa/Florida can sign every RFA to absurdly low cap hits because of tax reasons.

He bought into the Tampa vision, but gets to cash in hard in 3 years. No signing bonus (reported). All of Tampa's expensive players will all be around in 3 years, and if he keeps being great, and they'll have to buy his UFA years, he could be pushing 12M.

Edit-

1- 1M sal, 4.25M SB
2- 3M sal, 3.5M SB
3- 9M sal, 0 SB

I'm not going to sit here and have a (frank)ing pity party for this city. We've been great before and we can do it again.

This. They have had smart leadership for a long time and the players bought in. Nothing at all to do with beaches.

Bobrowsky didn't take a pay cut to sign with the Panthers.
