I'm still gonna watch anyway and see what happens
- jimbo83

Why bother? I'm not watching for probably the next 3 years, which is when we might make the playoffs.

I know the real reason is because your TV made from compost died.

it's difficult not to mock the 3 or 4 guys we get in here who no matter what, always say the same exact thing. Every single time.

So I don't stop myself.

Last I saw on here, you said you were at 11 for the fantasy pool. Was that including me? Did you find a twelfth?
If you were including me, just go ahead with 10. I am not really that interested, just wanted to help you out if you were stuck with an odd number.

(frank) you too Jim. The Panarin signing will haunt us for years. Panarins best years will be wasted in what we hope will be a successful rebuild.
- Brukie

Just for the sake of argument, let's just pretend you are right. However, if Kakko, Kravstov, and others at that point are shouldering the load and Panarin is still just an effective player, isn't that still valuable to us? The secret to winning in today's NHL seems to be 3 effective scoring lines and timely goaltending. Even if Panatin was an expensive 50 pt 3rd liner at that point, he'd still be contributing.

Did they make any cuts over the weekend? Seems they should be getting closer to wanting the team they are going to ice for the season.

Werent you the guy who wanted to trade Names and Strome, send down or buy out Smith and Staal and let the kids play?? That really was a brilliant idea you had.

Was discussing the Center Ice blackouts yesterday. I would have signed up instead of trying to find a good feed, but way too many games are blacked out in my area. Not just NYR games, Devs, Isles and Flyers too. Such BS.

You don't know that. You just want to be able to say I told you so if things go poorly.
Everyone has to have goals, I guess.

No I dont, Id rather be wrong. Im a Rangers fan and of course I want to win. Id rather Panarin score the GWG in the Finals and say I was wrong.

All I have pointed out is very rarely has a big free agent signing ever transcend into a Cup. The past 15 years its been a different beast with the Cap. Home grown talent thru the draft and pieces added along the way. ie The Kings adding Gaborik, Penguins adding Kessel, Blackhawks adding Hossa. These teams were on the verge of winning when they traded for these players. The Rangers arent on the verge of winning anything. The Rangers announced just 18 months ago they were going to rebuild. Thats just 2 years of losing. They had dead weight of Staal, Smith, Shatty and the burden of Hanks contract. Guess what aside from having Shattys cap hit of 6 mil next year, we still have the dead weight.

This board sounds like the posters from Leafs board.

Still at 11 if you joined. Guess we will be going with 10. If someone comes out of the woodwork I might reach out to you.

Thanks Tony.

ok, what about the Bruins signing Chara in 2006. Missed the playoffs the year before they signed him and the year after. Won the Cup in 2011.

How does this example work in your theory.

I know you its hard for you to interpret simple words that make a big impact on what is said.

btw no progress or updates with Kreider contract. The obvious is they want to keep him but do not have the room. We will know more by TDL what direction they are going

I disagree. I think this board sounds like people who live in reality and get that these moves were/are made regardless of what we, as arm-chair QB's, might do if we were actually in charge of things. You can female dog about it, or you can cheer for your team and enjoy any successes they have along the way.
Literally EVERYBODY knows that we are not winning the Cup this season. Why is it the end of the world to bring in Panarin? No, we are not contending, but it's not like they aren't ready and only signed him for 2 or 3 years. We have him for 7 years! What's wrong with bringing in a stud for the young kids to grow around and see what the habits of a true NHL superstar are like while they are still impressionable as professionals? You don't see ANY benefit to having Panarin here before they have every other piece in place?

Chara was a pretty good signing though

and the Bruins weren't close to contenders when they did it

you'd probably agree with that right?

You are 100 percent right, IF there wasnt a Cap. In todays age of the Cap you cant have a third liner making 12m per. If Kakko, Kravstov, Igor, Chytil, Fox do become those high end players how will we fit them under the Cap?? The players are starting to get paid earlier in their careers now. If they become high end players, will they average 6-10 mil per each?? With Panarin and Trouba already taking up 19 percent of the Cap now, it will be hard. Look at the situation the Leafs are in now. Good home grown talent that earned to get paid. Did they really need JT?? But If they dont become high end players then it really doesnt matter because we wont be winning anything then anyway.
