Another brilliant Wedgie post....
I take Rielly, Barrie, Muzzin and Dermott over anything the Leafs have had in years!
- .HOHO.
(frank) ya, me too.
I'm not a fan of complaining on the way up. Tweaks and adjustments become way too opinionated for me. Cap conversations....
Complaining about trades, picks, coaches, cap...anything...when the team is on the way down...I'm good to go. |

I know I wasn't all doom and gloom. Some dudes in here should be eating crow though.
Kapanen/Johnsson, Matthews, Nylander
Hyman, Tavares, Marner
Moore, Kerfoot, Kapanen/Johnsson
Micheyev, Spezza, Goat
Rielly, Ceci
Muzzin, Barrie
Dermott, Lilijegren (Hopefully)
Andersen
WGAF...unfortunately
I'm all in! - underhill14
Our roster is solid.. We just need a goalie capable of playing 25-30 games and a winger or two that can hit. |

Even if Babcock wants Goat as the 4th line center, I'd put Spezza on the wing. He played some really good hockey on the wing in the playoffs this last year. He can take some draws if needed.
Maybe that bumps Petan or Mikheyev down. |

Muzzin worries me. - Atomic Wedgie
I think Muzzin was really solid for the Leafs last year. Pretty excited to have him all season, with Barrie on the right side. Going to be a really good pairing. |

Ya, how so?
I found him pretty stable last year, a nice surprise really. What are your concerns? - underhill14
As per my previous post, I'm not saying he'll lose a step.
I'm just worried he might.
If he becomes ineffective, we have absolutely nobody to fill his role. |

I haven't really seen him play yet, but my guess is that he'll be on it, as he's still waiver-exempt.
He can be sent to the Marlies (on paper) on any non-game day. |

I liked what I saw from him, I know it's only one pre-season game, but I think he'll be up with the Leafs until Hyman is fully recovered. |

Totally fair.
Hope not, but if so, guess we only worry about re signing Barrie.

Here's the part that bugs me. When they signed Spezza, the story was this:
"Following an exhilarating meeting with Kyle Dubas and Mike Babcock during the free agent interview period, Spezza took the Leafs offer in hopes of staying even longer to help the club over the hump."
This means that Babcock was there on July 1 as a part of the meeting. As a part of the whole: Should Spezza take a multi-million dollar haircut and a reduced role to come back to Toronto and play in front of friends and family - for a good team - or is there no real role for him?
Babcock was clearly a part of the conversation that encouraged Spezza to come to Toronto . . . so these words, if they directed at Spezza, are a bit of slap in the face. It's not Dubas signed Spezza and Babcock was like, "What the Hell am I going to do with this guy?" - Monkeypunk
Babcock seems to be getting to be more of a wiener as he gets older. I don't know, his coaching style hasn't worked for a long, long time now. And ultimately, when has he ever had success with a young team? And that being said, why did Shanny view him as the answer for a talented young team? None of us know exactly what goes on behind the scenes but there hasn't been much to be impressed about when it comes to the coach. |
