He always had all of the physical tools to play in the league, especially the speed. Seems his brain finally caught up to his body.

for the injuries. McLeod didn't even mean to score that goal. Lost the handle/had his stick lifted. He hasn't impressed me more than Boqvist, and you know Zacha will start. He can wait for his callup.

Every time I wondered why Boyle was put out in front of the net on the PP, I get it now. They were just hoping he'd be Simmonds. I'm not sold on his 5v5 play but if he's a 3rd liner that gets a lot of PP time, then I think it's okay.

And Maltsev, and Bastian, and... seems there may be the depth here to move out some forwards for a LHD to replace Greene at the end of the season. Hard to believe just a few years ago Bernier, Tootoo and Ruutu were routinely playing top 6 minutes.

Simmonds looks like an aging 4th liner 5v5. But it's just preseason.
