Backes would be insane if he wanted to fight an AHL plug in a preseason game after all his concussions issues.

Interesting the Flyers are not even dressing Strome to play in the pre-season. Not a good sign.

It's interesting, but it's not a big deal for a 20 year old starting his first pro season.

It's a bad sign for 21 year old Laberge to be so far down the pecking order, though.

For a guy who was a healthy scratch in 3 out of 7 SCF games (including Game 7), I don't think there's much on the ice he wouldn't do to show he's still got something to offer.

The Flyers will be fine. A lot of the veterans are getting in sync with AV's new schemes and the coaches are taking long looks at the kids. It'll all come together. 2Real Gwan 2Real.

The only thing bothering me is that they seem to be missing the net a LOT.

All the other stuff stems from them learning new systems and roles.

I would have liked to see them score more than 1 goal per game so far but that has been lack of puck luck more than anything. (and missing the net)

I liked what I saw from both Frost and Farabee last night.

Of the two, I think Farabee has the better shot to stick. At the NHL level, Frost will be primarily an offensive player. Although he's no black hole defensively, his complete game isn't refined yet and they'd probably want him to work on it in the AHL. Farabee is the player who looks like he can handle both sides of the puck much better. The staff would probably be more inclined to play him.

I don't expect either one to make it, and I'm fine with that. I'd actually prefer both of them in the AHL, at least to start.

They both have mountains to climb as there is a list ahead of them. Not even sure if i would have them in top ten prospects.

frost, farabee, allison, ratcliffe, york, zamula, rubstov, voroybyev, nak, sandstrom, ginning, o'brien, kase, otismenko (spelled wrong), Laczinski

winless at this point in the season... probably no chance to gain enough ground in the division, let alone the conference now... season's over, folks.

like the coach and someone on here said. The are learning a new system. Isles and boston have had the same systems and coaching for at least two season, boston with more. Not worried about this until it is a few games in. Same with the power play. Trying different things. Just my take. on the flip side the pk has looked better, but again preseason.

I didn't see much of the game, but was Backes trying to get Andreoff to fight towards the end of the first? They were going to the benches and Backes was right up against him, yapping in his ear. Just curious is something happened out there between them.
- jmatchett383

I don't think so. I took it like they were just chatting... but no idea. Seemed friendly but Backes was oddly close to him lol

How important do you all think it is for organization to avoid a slow start?

I would be more worried if they were losing games with 4+ GA per game. So far, of the 9 GA, 2 have been an empty netter and one with the other team's goalie pulled. So 7 regular GA in 3 games isn't so bad. As for the lack of offense, I'm not surprised given the new coaching system and use of lots of young players. This being said - I would expect that the Flyers start to get it going offensively by 2-3 weeks into the season.

They'd both have to have monster AHL years to get a sniff.

The HC didn't turn us into a stanley cup contender by his third preseason game!!! Burn the organization to the ground!!
- ClaudeFather

Not surprised you’re missing the point. The Power Play is exactly the same. Same players. Same structure. Last night the Flyers offered up their stars and Boston offered us minor league players.

If you’re okay with this, god bless.

Backes couldn’t crack the Stanley Cup Final lone up. I’m interested in knowing what his future holds.

I'm with ya on the PP, G ended up rotating to the other side a couple times though. They were zipping the puck around well, just not enough good shots. I liked how Ghost was just getting pucks through and leaning on JVR for a tip play. I think the main focus is going to be JVR at net front, which i like. Watching Toronto a few years back the PP was centered around getting the puck to him and it worked quite well. Still don't understand the whole G other side thing tho, please end that.

I'm not ready to get too worked up over their play so far, but I don't know how any fan could have watched that game and not gotten a little bit of a sick feeling. It was definitely disappointing.

Frost was probably apart of the most scoring chances on the team.
- ClaudeFather

Right. He's got great offensive upside. He played with JVR and Jake. I still thought he looked hesitant out there. Definitely talented kid. Can't wait till he breaks through.
