I liked the way he was able to keep the opposition from getting set up in the defensive zone and getting the puck out in transition. But i see your point, the 45% on faceoffs is what he should be judged on - paulr
Or how about the part where he was on the first pairing of the worst penalty killing unit in the last 30 years. He should be your extra forward at best.

So many proclaimed him a roster lock in the top 9. How dare anyone question them on Sikura. He’s an NHL caliber player... etc. etc.
He’s back in Rockford because he isn’t a legit NHL forward you have on a playoff team. |

A bit hypocritical if Roenick as he was a guy always chasing money and his name in lights...and didnt quite listen to vets when they told him he was getting bad advice from his agent - PatShart

Wedin can play center?! News to me - Assman22
“Anton has been one of the best forwards in the league,” a SHL league source said. “He played for one of the worst teams. He is a speedy forward. His biggest strength is using his speed, mostly on the entry. He is not extremely skilled. His shot is not spectacular, but he is strong on the puck and is using his skating to create time and space. Besides that he is a pretty all-around player. I have seen him play both center and winger, but I think he is way more effective as a winger. He’s a late bloomer, played his first season in the top league this season. He may have to start in the AHL.” |

I thought he was pretty cool the night the Blackhawks won the cup, emotional and thinking about all those fans that came out to support him as a player, and happy for those same fans that finally got to enjoy being Stanley Cup Champions.
I think he's shocked that the bridge deals are disappearing and honestly so am i. |

it was cool to see the raw emotion. But it was because he wasn't part of it. And as Shart and Elbows point out, he got some bad advise. Not to mention he can't count to begin with. People love to hate on Wirtz, but in JR's case it is unfounded. I'm pretty sure JR would do it all over different if he could. I love the guy, but he f'd up. |

My ears always turn up when people start numbering a player (i.e. #5 defenseman). What do you mean by Murphy being a 5, or 6? What do you expect out of a 3-4?
We all know that Hjalmarsson was a horse defensively, but he never really put up much offense. In the last few years, you can argue that Murphy has just as good advanced stats. - Chunk
Good evening Chunk. You make a strong and legitimate point. I'll stick with murphy would be a solid 3rd pairing defenseman on a contending team.
I said I'm willing to see how he responds playing with DE HAAN.
But as I mentioned earlier hammer was in a class of his own and Stan when he moved hammer for murphy , oversold everyone on how murphy was the younger version of hammer.
I truly respect and as always enjoy your hockey knowledge.

Re: Tonight's Boston vs Chicago
Two points influencing the outcome of the game tonight:
* Boston lineup and organizational depth features a heavier dose of physical young forwards than most teams around the league.
* This preseason contest features many of the regular starter's you would see in the Blackhawks opening night line up sheet (have not seen Bruins' line up tonight). But how hard and interested are the the veterans going to go?
Watch Wedin because he might force his way onto the roster if not opening night then at some point during tge season. And for the record I prefer Sikura over Kampf as 3rd/4th center.
I have to guess that Carlsson remains not quite ready yet the spot(s) available for non veterans in remaining exhibition games will go first to Boqvist who intrigues and next to the threesome Dahlstrom/Koekkoek/Holm. As for Gilbert, Bowman/Colliton know what they get. Further, he is both not ready and his playing in remaining exhibition tilts is merely to get muscle on a pairing and Gilbert gains developmental experience. |

Agree. Dude is 24 and a 6th round pick. There is a reason they gave him a 2 way deal. He just happened to be the best "so called prospect" they had at the time. He has been passed by many players that are just better. He has zero shot of making the team. And I don't think he will ever amount to more than a career minor leaguer - SaadBeast

Ah yes. Hits dont matter, faceoffs dont matter...and as you said earlier, points don't matter
So what exactly does matter? |

He'll be 29 and we will still be arguing about him as the 13th forward.

I do agree he shouldn't have said anything, i always find it funny how someone seeks out more pay as a player but then makes a comment about a player getting paid? |

Manny Machado is making $30m a year to be a "lazy ass." Talent always trump's effort. When you get talent with effort you have something special.
