Yes it is wrong for a few reasons:

Dahlin to defense what McDavid is to offense

Dahlin and Mittlestadt are on rookie deals and McDavid is not

Then there is another first which could be a top 10 pick again if not higher based on all the uncertainties around this team.

No way to fit him under the cap as well

But this would be the type of package it would be to get McDavid right now

- Stripes77

I understand the cap and the entry level contracts, which would be part of the reason that package would work for Oilers, but McDavid is the top offensive forward for a few years now and he is only 22.

I see McDavid / Eichel down the center, could be enough to outscore other teams.

Johannsen McDavid Reinhart
Skinner Eichel Oloffson
Thompson Rodriguez Vesey
Sheary Asplund Okposo

Risto Montoru
Miller Jokiari
McCabe Gilmour / Nelson

Not horrible.....

Let's wait a couple more years...then if you want McDavid so bad, hopefully THEY have to throw in their first for only Dahlin.
- IonSabres

I hear you. Not many teams trade star player for star player. If they try to get a star player, they give up tons of future to get current star.

What if we were somehow able to keep Dahlin.

Jack ECHL
MittelFAT
1ST + 2nd

McDavid

I guess the way I read that, we have been wanting a second line center, what if that was Eichel? I mean, who has a better second line center in the league then?

Also it came out that Byfuglien is contemplating retirement. Risto to WPG?

That would literally be the late 2000s penguins with Crosby and Malkin

Can i keep Eichel and Dahlin and just get 55-60p from a 2C?

I can't imagine any decision will be made by Winnipeg until they know from Buff. There is no time table for his decision, so I think it's still the Jeopardy theme song on loop.

No.

We aren't allowed to have nice things.

Someone at capfriendly just posted a McDavid trade to Buffalo (I know, never would happen). But a few people at the end of the comments tend to agree that a decent package would be

Dahlin + Mittlestadt + 1st

for

McDavid

I love Dahlin, have high hopes for Mittlestadt, but I almost think I would do that. Is that wrong?

Edmonton says no before we even say who we are offering

I agree. Just saying if that was a package that would be considered, would we even consider that?

I understand where we are today. Trade conversations are fun (sometimes), but I think we all hope Mitts will be a 55+ point guy, the question is when?

I think we'd have to do it. The main reason for pause would be position and how many years that he is (fairly) cost controlled.

It's definitely fun. I think the only deal that Edmonton would accept would be Klefbom and McJesus for Eichel and Dahlin.

And i wouldn't do it

Yea I am out on that too. Just intrigued by the possiblity of having the two star centers.

My main hesitation is that I think most teams that win the cup have a stud center and a stud D man as the main pieces, a reason I would not want to give up Dahlin.

I completely understand this is a "what if" scenario because people find it fascinating to talk about.

But trading Dahlin?????

I understand it's possibly for McDavid, but I can't believe we're actually exploring this.

Again, I get it, it's preseason and we're bored.

But it's like planning what life will be like without my wife. I enjoy my wife, not looking at life without her.

Yes, posters on a message board are exploring it - Botterill is not.

Agreed, 100%. We need something to pass the time. I'm just perplexed.

Well it beats politics.

You think Okposo will embrace his 4th line role like Steen did in STL last year?
- lulags

He better. Seems as if that's about as far as he'll go on this team

They should win there, that defense is better than NYG but that's not saying much.

My fantasy plan this year is to trade my entire team for the QB playing the Giants that week. I picked up Josh Allen for that purpose and it paid off. They make everyone look like an MVP. Hurts to say as a Giants fan.

I grabbed Devin Singeltary and John Brown last week. Thinking of putting in Singeltary but I'm worried about his splitting carries with Gore.
