I really don't wanna move on Sutter yet. I think he can help the team have a good year and have value later on. Right now you would be selling 10 cents on the dollar.
I could see a package of Tanev Woo or OJ and Lind . Or something like that. In other words two good prospects.
I have also heard Honka thrown around and that would be a lot less. - VANTEL
I agree Sutter has extremely low value until at least a couple of months into the season, still healthy and showing some production.
I’d personally consider Woo or Lind. Both still have potential and value. I’d like to see more progress from OJ before Christmas before making a call on him.
Tanev looks like he might get off to a strong start, but...so injury prone. Seems more likely to be attractive at the TDL if the Canucks are not in contention, as long as he is still healthy. He has a modified NTC, so he’d have to be onside. |

Also, Tanev’s modified NTC is an 8 team no-trade list, so shouldn’t be too problematic. Wonder if Buffalo would be on that list...? |

Do you think Motte will still be here? Doesn’t seem to be much room for both, barring significant injuries. |

In that scenario they would have $10M to sign him. But doubt Jets want that kind of package for Laine. Was joking before cause of the Tanev is injured and sell the dog house boys statement. |

I’m no capologist, but $10M would seem to be a stretch.
The three players combined would be $5-$5.5M AAV, plus they are a little over with Boeser, already (easily managed by trimming the roster). They would need to clear an additional $4-$5M after that in order to get to $10M.
..but...as you note...
The Jets aren’t about to take that package for Laine, nor do I think they have given up on resigning him. If they were to move, I think they’d want a high impact prospect on an ELC (cap & $) + multiple future high draft picks. |

Was listening before and money is only one issue. There is attitude issues also . Laine wants to play on the top line and the coach doesn't want him there.

Interesting to reflect on the 2016 draft. Some high impact players but also a few question marks in the top 10.
Auston Matthews (C) Toronto Maple Leafs
Patrik Laine (RW) Winnipeg Jets
Pierre-Luc Dubois (LW) Columbus Blue Jackets
Jesse Puljujarvi (RW) Edmonton Oilers
Olli Juolevi (D) Vancouver Canucks
Matthew Tkachuk (LW) Calgary Flames
Clayton Keller (C). Arizona Coyotes
Alexander Nylander (LW) Buffalo Sabres
Mikhail Sergachev (D) Montreal Canadiens
Tyson Jost (C). Colorado Avalanche

Kind of unfair to the players if they start mentioning names . Benning said the same thing . He said he is working the phones but didn't mention names - VANTEL
It's just 1 of those things the media does to create unnecessary news. 50% chance of being right but it's based on nothing using words like COULD and SOON.
Vantel could be eating a grilled cheese sandwich soon....not news worthy |
