If you haven't been able to watch the Montreal game, Butcher is playing really well and McLeod is looking much better than at any point. Still early, but he might be able to make a push for a roster spot.

Nico is very steady as usual. Has some nice offensive moments so far but the forward group in Montreal is a lot worse. And playing well defensively as usual.

Right on. For a bit I was thinking we could of used a few of the tougher guys over in the boston game as they really started to take it to the devils physically but its since died down.

Hughes and Goose only met a few days ago. Despite playing with a declining North/South plug like Wood, they seem like they've been playing together for years. Imagine the potential. Add in a real goal scorer like Simmonds or Boqvist and we might see something special.

Not very impressed with Hughes so far. Obviously way too early to panic, but he's turned over the puck a bunch.

Noticed that too, especially in own zone

literally oh my god. An 18 kid turned the puck over *a few* times in his *first* *preseason* game and y'all almost throw in the towel. Hughes proceeds to score twice, including the game winner. shaking my head

I would trade him while his stock is still high. Clearly a bust.

Yeah except nobody did that. He was turning the puck over and looked bad at that point in the game. Nobody panicked.

For the past 18 years, every time this kid has hit the ice, he was able to walk around the competition like he was playing in rookie level on the Xbox. He is the same age as most kids slinging fast food at their local burger king. It won't take long for him to realize he'll need to adjust his tactics to meet the NHL level of competition. Lets give him a few periods before we start sweating.
