Agreed......... kind of reminds me of Kahun, quick, smart, and efficient. - Hawkytalk
Highmore was great last night.
I don't see it happening, however, I'd like to pin him and Kampf against each to see who's truly more effective at both ends.
Highmore was fantastic on the backcheck last night. Also seems to be in the right spot. |

What I noticed last night was that the defense didn't spend periods of the game running around like chickens with their head cut off, and better anticipation when putting the puck in an open area, there was a Hawk within the vicinity to at least compete for the puck. |

@TylerTyping
Looks like #Blackhawks are playing a few guys in back-to-back games... Perlini, Wedin, Nilsson, Dahlstrom, Koekkoek, Beaudin.
Take that for what it's worth. - Tyler Cameron
I think your first cuts come from this group. |

Does he have more offensive upside and play with a little more edge? Kampf is an ok option at 4C but he really doesn't do it for me. Everything he does is average, except his offensive skillset and hands which appear to be below average. I don't feel comfortable with him being matched up against other teams top 6. |

More likely the last cuts come from perlini, Nylander, Wedin, Sikura, (smith if he is bad) Dahlstrom and koekee.

I'd have to agree on Highmore giving Kampf a run for his money on a 4th line spot. Highmore competes every shift, is fast, pursues the puck relentless, plays defense, and has relatively better offensive skills. I'd guess faceoff numbers are at least a wash.
Could you have a lineup with both of them? Perhaps but maybe a year or so later when guys like Smith and Carpenter are no longer needed. |

Agreed..........and I wasn't impressed with Kampf's play last night. It sure is obvious though that he's one of JC's favorites with him starting out the OT, but at least he won that draw.
I'm looking forward to see who's in tonight and tomorrow. I'm betting that some of the big boys will play tomorrow at UC. That's been kind of the norm the past few years. Management likes to have their paying STH's get some monies worth out of these home games. Thank GOD hockey is back !!

I think there are some other players in camp that will probably be sent back down before some in this group. A little too early to say first cuts are coming from these. Perlini, Dahlstrom, KoekKoek are definitely not among the first cuts, they also probably want Wedin and Beaudin to stay around and get some exposure to the "big boys" and NHL game speed.
If you look at tonight's lineup, does Fortin even have a shot at making this club anymore? So many others have seemingly passed him. |

Why is Shaw wearing Kampf's number? - LAHawk Interesting to see who they put with ADB and Strome, Perlini?, Kubalik, or Shaw?. I think if Shaw plays center again, he is gonna be the third line center this year.

Gus looked like Gus. Floats in the defensive zone. Maybe loses focus. Out of position and overplays in certain situations. But it is just on some shifts. Other shifts he looks engaged and competent. When the puck is on his stick all of a sudden he looks more determined and is ready to make plays. I like him as a Hawk until Boqvist is ready for a roster spot or a bigger role at the NHL level. But Gus should be on the 1st power play unit (5 min per game), with limited minutes (12 min per game) playing 5v5, and no PK. The problem is how can you limit his minutes playing 5v5 without limiting his probable partner's minutes 5v5. That partner is probably Keith, but could be Maatta or DeHaan. Another problem is that he is forced to play on his off side because we have mainly left handed defensemen. If we could move Gus for a young quality RD puck moving power play quarterback that actually plays defense you would have to consider it. |

I'm guessing that the team that has such a critter isn't trading him for Gus.

Think this is a product of the guys actually knowing JC's system rather than learning it on the fly. I'm curious how it looks with the vets in the lineup |

I wonder if Beaudin is making a case to start the year on the roster with de Haan starting on IR |

Very excited to see what he can do coming off his injury last year. Bummer he had that happen otherwise he would have gotten a legit shot on the team last year and would likely be looked at more as someone who could start the year with the team |

Boqvist makes it before Beaudin IMO. Even though I thought Beaudin got better as the game went on last night. |

No guarantee CDH starts on IR. He is practicing with the team now and Lazarus thinks he may be ready to go for the start of season. |

Idk if Boqvist would make it over Beaudin. Maybe I'm wrong, but I feel that if you're looking for someone to step in for a handful of games he would be the guy to do so because he's more defensively sound right now. Both could benefit from some time in Rockford though

I hadn't heard that his timetable was moved up that much. Last time, which was a few days ago, I heard he was still 3-4 weeks from being able to return. If he's ready that's awesome. |
