Yep. If Gus is on first team unit on PP, who is the Dman on the 2nd PP unit? Keith? Maatta? Seabs?
I imagine the 1st PK unit is Murphy and Dehaan. Is the 2nd unit Keith and Seabs? I can't see Keith not on one of the two PK units. It might be hard to play Keith with Maatta together because they are both LD's. So Seabs is the default. - -Doh-
My thought is Seabrook will be the guy on PP2. |

On the plus side, I am enjoying the Toronto cap situation.
I never understood signing Tavares and not trading Matthew's for a king's ransom (or Marner) immediately.
Their defense is middling to poor, and with 3 superstar contracts up front, as well as some other healthy ones, they will never have the cap resources to improve their blueline as they need to in order to win a Cup.
Unless the NHL morphs back into the Oiler era 1980s, I don't see it happening. - hereismike1
And with Tavares and Marner in the line-up last night they lost to Ottawa, I guess their season is lost too. Also Thomas Jurco scored a goal fro Edmonton, another Bowman fail.

Wayne Gretzky Kamph gets decent line mates again, shocker!! I am also starting to think if Dach is not ready, how about Sikura centers Saad and Shaw for the 3rd line? That line encourages me a whole lot more than Kamph, who is more suited for 4th line duties. - ChicagoHope[/quo
Highmore before Sikura,

As long as it's not a return to the Kane/Bread line where they were scary good with the puck on their blades and equally scary bad in their own zone. - Beaver-Warrior
Probably not as scary as the "Bread Line" was defensively. This would have Toews as center. But it still would be pretty scary when on D. |

Hawks should look to move Murphy to WIN - especially after the byfuglien news and their need for RHD
Then, they can keep Boqvist up

In that case, let Shaw be the center. Sikura has been a winger for most of his career. Shaw has played C and had some success doing it. |

I've said it a few times...dont be shocked when its Saad-Kampf-Kubilak
Dach may get 9 games to start....but then the Kampf to 3 line Center will be in effect |

Kampf would be better in that role than some of the other options like Smith or Carpenter.I wouldn't be surprised if it ends up being Shaw. I don't think Dach is ready. But i guess they have 9 games to take a look.
Maybe Highmore shines in the next few games. He has some offense. Smart defensively and is a puck hound.
We differ on Kampf. Even I think he is best suited for a 4C pain in the ass, flip the ice role. |

What a difference in the skating between the sevond and third pairs. Should the second pair hold their place as good enough often enough, then you have a study in how a big difference or variable is not crippling. |

I'm not a fan of Kampf at all and dont think he should be a 3rd liner. Not even sure hes a good 4th liner |

That Kubalik... so hot right now.
Does everyone still think he's a LW?
That shot from the right-side is lethal. - Tyler Cameron
His shot reminded me of cat. I thought for a moment that was cat shooting.
He could compliment the cat strome line very well.

Talk about terrible defensively...I don't think Kubalik is needed on line 2 when you have cat there. Shaw would be better for line 2. I bet Kubalik is the RW on line 3 to start game 1. |

If Highmore can't take Kampf's job he really isn't an NHL prospect. Kampf is a 13th forward on a mediocre/bad NHL team. At $1M / year he's tradeable to somebody like LAK, Ottawa, Detroit or Edmonton. |

If any defenceman gets moved it should be Gus. I’d keep Murphy over de Haan and Maatta too. |

Hang on to Gus until the TDL and let teams overpay at that time as they do |

My point being (which you ignored) that Toronto is too cap heavy on their forwards and in dire need of upgrading their defense.
I take it you disagree? |

Fair enough. I guess my point is that I wouldn’t be so quick to move Murphy.
I’m starting to wonder if the Hawks will re-sign Gus. Maybe a 4 X $4 million kind of deal. The thought of Gus and Boqvist on the team together is scary. |

Moving Gus at the TDL opens the space for Mitchell when his college season ends |

I'm with you on keeping Murphy and I also think it likely the Hawks end up keeping Gus. He contributes in ways that teams often crave. If the Hawks move Gus it won't be a cheap trade for the other team. |
