Big Leaf hater here, but I have so much respect for what they have done in my hometown this week. They could have came here, had their camp and left. But they have been hanging around, interacting with fans and embracing the Newfoundland culture. Later today they will go and visit the hospital. Good job Leafs! Gonna make it harder to dislike them this year for sure. |

There are probably a few Aholes you would not anything to do with on any team, but for the most part, I am guessing most players are pretty good guys. People don't hate the Leafs player as much as they hate the crest, the city, and the fanbase.

McAvoy is betting on a big increase on his next deal. Bruins will probably be rebuilding. Bergeron will be 37 and UFA, Krejci gone, Moore, Marchand and Pasta are the only ones signed past McAvoy's deal. I think he's thinking about the $100Million next deal and not worrying too much about the $7 to $9 Million he left on the table this time. |

Marner declined 2 offer sheets over the summer. Dubas knew of one according to ferris.
So offer sheets did occur. Looks like some media were right and all the peeps saying it would never happen, were wrong. |

Whoa - I think most said he would never sign an offer sheet. Many people fully expected other teams to make some kind of offer.
Anyway, without knowing the details of the offersheet, it is kind of irrelevant. If it was for 5 years at 7 million - it might as well have not been offered.
If it was for 5 years and 12 million (doubt it) then Marner took less money to be a leaf and I have more respect for him.

No - but he can now either play the Trouba game, and I think he is better than Trouba and walk towards UFA or he can sign $12 x 8 on his next deal with the Bruins.

Edit: Ohh, walk towards free agency...didn't see that bit. Yeah, he could, but he's said many times he wants to stay here for a long time (don't they all though ) so we'll see what happens. i like the deal a lot |

He will be an RFA when this deal expires, will be arbitration eligible, which will likely be more than $7.3+ the qualifying offer will have to be. If Bruins take him to arbitration and say he gets $8 to $10 M, he will be a UFA the following year. |

If you look at the Bruins core, there has to be many changes between now and then. Its a great deal for the Bruins - but Charlie will get paid.

I think the idea was even if they were made MM wouldn't sign one because he wears Leaf pyjamas. I wonder who made them, and how the Leafs can screw those teams over out of spite. |

I mean. . . duh. Of course you do! It makes me irritated, so it must be a good deal for the Bruins. |

Everybody seems to think Columbus made one. Which makes sense. They're basically gutted and Kek is probably on his last legs there so he didn't give an f giving up 1sts.
Maybe the Ducks? |

A lot of people said it simply wouldnt happen.
It was offered, they apparently were decent deals but marner said he wanted to be a leaf. Ferris also said the leafs and marner were always close on money but it was term that was the concern. Sounds like the leafs wanted 7/8 years while marner wanted 3/4/5. |

The part that looks great is the AAV but that's the trade off for less term.
It's team/cap friendly only in the sense that it's short term. I don't think that McAvoy's taking a big discount on a 3 yr deal. |

He didnt say, didnt get into specifics. Just that one the gm of the other team advised dubas and the other didnt apparently.
Again this is all from marners agent this morning on tsn.
He wasnt to happy with the vilification of marners dad lol.
Also said most of the deals reported by media were not correct. But take that for what its worth, they always say that after the fact. |
