Yet Williams is considered a classic example of someone that leads and wins..

IM not saying Gagne was trash..He wasn't and I loved watching him Im just saying that I prefer the intangibles that Williams seemed to have over what Gagne offered.

Your comment about a skating competition made it seem like it's not close between the two players.

Hard to argue. One of those players that just wins and pulls his team to winning.
- MJL

Yes but it is still a team sport. Williams did win cups but he was a complimentary piece at the right time. Great in the clutch but to me so was Gagne. Boston example. Both are great players but I just think j will benefited as that great teams as well. Gags had head issues in concussions and groin issues. Would want both. Just saying.

With all the injuries AND if TK doesn’t start the season, do folks have projected lineups?
- coffee junkie

If TK, NoPa and Pitlick are all unavailable, I’m guessing something like:

G-Coots-Jake
JVR-Hayes-Lindblom
Raffl-Laughton-Farabee
4th: Rubtsov centering some mix of Andreoff, Stewart, or NAK

Also guessing AV goes basically with 3 lines with Rubtsov getting a couple spot shifts in the top 9.

In his prime Gagne was an elite two-way winger good enough to play on Team Canada.
- Feanor

Can we have Gagne’s skills & sense mixed with Williams heart and durability?

See, I don't see Williams as a complimentary player. He was a huge part of making those teams great teams. He was a main cog in the wheel.

I have one started, but I still have too many question marks to post it. Right now, I have Stewart on the 4th line and Andreoff as the 13F.

should they go the more skill route or physical route on the 4th line any thoughts on that?

Maybe. I meant starting point for negotiations is going to be over 7. But yeah, similar to werenskis deal, he’s going to be making a lot more than Provy in a couple years.

I caught part of the last two sessions of training camp today. Who is Kurtis Gabriel? I know it’s just practice but he’s a big dude and seemed to have some decent wheels and skill. I was watching Hart’s side of the ice and Gabriel seemed very focused on beating Hart. Scored on him several times.

Speaking of Hart...had a little scare when he took a knee in obvious pain. I didn’t see what happened, but people were saying he got hit in the nuts. He stayed on the ice. Hope that’s all it is.

Highlight was seeing Taryn Hatcher. It was kind of like seeing a unicorn. Her statuesque beauty contrasted shockingly in that crowd of chubby white guys.

Not a great sign if the highlight of camp was Taryn.

Pretty sure he’s the player that boarded Patrick, I think last season, then Patrick came back at him with a high hit late in the game when the flyers were ahead.

Because CBJ an BB are not assuming a lot of risk. They are paying for RFA years with either the assumption that they will pay market value for their UFA years or that they will let them walk. Sure, provy got more, but on the basis that he will be a cornerstone of this team until at least 2025. It's risk mitigation: pay him like a top 4 D-man and if last year is somehow the true reflection of his talent, you overpaid by 2.75 million TOPS. If his level of play returns or improves, it becomes a steal.
- GorgeousDave

If he plays like last season then his overpayment will sure as hell be more than 2.75 mil. More like 5 mil. A year too.

Ok. Other highlights Provorov and Niskanen looked real good together. Provorov seemed really dialed in. Hayes with JVR looked awesome. Big, mobile and skilled. Hart’s new black pads were pretty badass. Therrien looks like he dropped a few lbs.

But he can bring a certain element to a team with his veteran presence. The GM said so himself.

I’m gonna go with the hockey people on this one.

This non-NHL player is good enough to get a tryout on an NHL Team.

With Patrick. Koneckny and Pitlick out, a lot of guys should get good looks. Hopefully, a few of them show something.
