It must have been awful for him to watch as the only premium piece went from a 20% lottery pick to the 31st overall pick. And ROR win the Conn Smythe to boot. - viper488
Very hard. ROR also won free Tim Hortons for life in St. Louis. |

5 premium pieces. A veritable treasure trove of assets. I need the Latvian Locomotive and/or "they call him Snipeshow around these parts" included. It might be the Butterfly Effect or The Marner Effect affecting my brain though. - gergeswillems
It is the Hockeybuzz effect.
Hockeybuzz is the only place in the known* universe where a bigger pile of poop is more valuable than a smaller pile of poop
*Does not include wherever young David Poile is hiding this time.

Young David Poile from 1967 vs Steroid aided Ben Johnson from 1988. Who wins the 1 lap around the Spectrum race? |

Poile, easily,
Johnson gets lost. He is not used to running in a circle. |

I was thinking Benny Boy gets roid rage and knocks Poile out. Then again, since Poile played hockey in the 60s then maybe he put on the foil and punched pebble nads Benny Boy in the junk. |

Uh, What? best american born D-man. . . Leetch. . . Housley . . . Mark Howe . . . Chelios . . . Langway . . .
McAvoy's got a long way to go to catch those guys. Those guys are legends. I wish McAvoy a great career and I cannot deny talent. But there is definitely something fishy/dangerous about the term "Best ever" .
I'd love to think that I am watching the best players in history in this RFA class but...maybe we are but I think that's all rhetoric to continually sell the game and erode and further divide the players union between the haves and have nots.

you will hate Price in 2 years when 10 million doesn't make sense for his performances, oh wait he got paid - Alexzanki
Not at all, the best goaltender in the league should get paid the most. That's partially why yours left, Jarko didn't want to pay him so he went to a place that would. Now you're (frank)ed, your team is going to look like an expansion team again for years to come meanwhile 10.5 milly will be peanuts compared to what contracts will be coming up. I know the Price contract is your lots go to but opposing fans seem more butthurt about it than Habs fans do and that should tell you everything you need to know about it |

McAvoy isn't even the greatest born American D-man playing right now. I'd take big Buff over him. Maybe even Carlson. |

That's only because they were for 13 years Spurgeon average salary per year is a little above those |

Fortunately the league doesn't have those 13 year contracts now a max of 8 years |

Best American defenseman of all time? Lol! Saturday night hot take. No one outside of Boston considers him that. Granted, he’s a very good young player but let’s just pump the brakes a little. I think couple of guys named Chelios, Leetch, Howe, and Housley may disagree somewhat. |

What a joke. Splurgoen is so overrated. A 5’3” defenseman for 7.5 million a year is an idiotic move |

It'll be ok pal. I'd be mad if we lost him for nothing too and our highest paid D was Boychuk |
