McAvoy is not even a good first pair d'man, let alone the best ever American born one. Very good offensively, but only average (at best) defensively.

I agree. I get the impression there's very few Sabers fans who would be sad to see him go, yet a lot seem to think he will net a big return.

From what I've seen of his play the most I'd be willing to risk on him is a 2nd on the chance it is really just the team and not him that sucks. Although I feel it's more likely he's one of the ones making a major contribution to the suckage.
