My thought as well. I’m not in favour of the captaincy going to someone just because they are the best player on the team. It should go to whomever can be the best captain for the team. For the Canucks, I think that is Bo.

EP40 is a pretty special talent, I would want him to be able to work on being one of the best in the world, rather than being distracted by all the off-ice media responsibilities that come with the “C”, for now.

That’s a bunch of BS... Studs can do it all & he’s a stud’s stud. Hockey comes so (frank)ing easy to the guy he’d probably welcome a bit of an extra challenge. He has zero problems answering questions, being accountable. He’s who I’d name Captain & it’s not close - really don’t care if I’m in the minority.

I don't care if the Captain is Bo or Eli. I do care if they don't name a Captain. Having a Captain is important. Every room I was in there was always a Captain. It's time.

He stayed for around that long i would say, almost everyone went over eventually, he was very patient and classy about it. It was a noticeable thing.

One other thing i noticed yesterday: quinn was well behind in the bag skate and looked absolutely knackered by the end. Camp in the show, getting tested. But also, the agility and stickhandling was outstanding thiugh.

I don't understand why it's so important for EP to take on all the off ice captaincy stuff that Bo has already been doing? Media, charity, accountability.... What is the urgency? What are the benefits? Whats best for EP and whats best for the team(the same I believe).

I see you are passionate about EP. That is emotional. What about the logical side of it? Why are the Canucks better if EP takes on the off ice captain responsibilities this season? Everything in the dressing room and on the ice is irrelevant of the letter sewn on the sweater except for talking to the officials and he could and should have an A so he would still be learning and doing that anyways. I'd give that particular edge to Bo by a mile at this point. Better at communicating and has the respect of the refs for a long time now.

My favourite player is Petey by a mile but I'm putting that aside. In fact, I don't want them to do that to my favorite player yet. People turn so fast on players who fall short of their over enthusiastic expectations.

No offense intended, but I think it comes from a place of insecurity to assume all that extra sh!t (pressure/responsibility etc) is a detrimental thing. He’d be up for and (frank)ing crush the challenge. We’re just all used to watching betas crumble under that weight. Petey was built for it. Look at his intelligence, confidence, personality, talent... He should be THE (frank)ING FACE of this franchise.

Sutter and pearson was a really nice surprise. Based off of today, I honestly wouldnt be surprised if we see

Motte played ok. LE and gaudette werent bad together. Virtanen was a poop show today. Baertschi had a few nice steals but was just ok.

Gaudette has really shown up to camp eager. I know hes likely to play in utica but he looked better than virtanen all day today. Looked better than sven as well

First of all, you are basing this on what you think he will do this season because he didnt crush it with the media last season. He was a rookie and that is fine. It doesnt mean he wont be ready for the media in the future either. It simply means he hasnt shown he's ready for that job yet. It's not insecurity on my behalf. If he actually requested less media exposure I’m kind of disappointed... still doesn’t make Horvat a better candidate to me. If Horvat is given the C (which I admit is highly likely - basically inevitable) I don’t think he lasts long here. As soon as cap problems arise, Captain Bo will be the most replaceable talent of the bunch.
