I think the end of last year Toews outplayed Leddy and therefor made him expendable. I think Toews take his minutes and Dobson takes Toews minutes from last year. The fact that they have too many players under contract leads me to believe a trade is on the horizon. I respect your opinion and we can agree to disagree with Dobson’s chances at making the team. Much like Barzal a few years ago, sending Dobson back to Juniors is pointless for his development. There’s literally nothing left for him to do at that level.

You’re not really understanding what I’m saying😂. Not disagreeing with you besides on one singular thing. That it’s a definite that he’s staying, that’s it. There’s no other point in there😂

That’s fine have a good weekend man.

The real surprise of last year is how many games Boychuk played. Come January will it be easy if Leddy is traded and Boychuk is resting? All this talk of Dobson but no mention of Aho? It may be a question of not surrendering vet depth vs a youth movement.

There’s so many reasons without even mentioning our AHL depth like Aho. We have a ton of D all over the place it’s a good problem to have we shall see how this plays out...

I totally hear you, but based on Lou's comment about not being able to let him play in the A, I just feel he's staying. I could be totally wrong.....wouldn't be the first or last time.

Because Aho is able to play in the A whereas Dobson can only go junior or isles.

If Dobson has a good camp he's def getting the 9 games. Its his story to write.

Correct especially considering lou and barry both said he has nothing left to.prove at that level and going back could actually stunt his growth

Unlike Barzal who went down and gained more confidence in his offensive game, the CHL does not teach Trotz defensive game which he can learn on the Island.

I’m sure he’ll get a 9 game look unless he has a terrible camp just not sure if he’ll stick due to how much depth we have? Who is sitting? Who is getting traded? Is having Dobson up and playing in some games beneficial? I would be ecstatic if we could trade our 4 million dollar per 7th defenseman and keep Leddy.

Yes clearly cap space and really roster space is important, I think leddy has more value than hickey and is the easier one to trade. Dobson will have a good camp even leddy said he has a great toolkit and special talent

Yea I know what you said wasnt twisting them at all, I just think hes too good to not have a good camp. But we all know that's why they have a camp too cause you never know

Absolutely. Can’t lose touch with the fact that the kid is 19 and a defenseman. He may need to marinade for a little bit more. Hate the stupid OHL/AHL rule it rears its ugly head constantly. In a perfect world he would get some seasoning in the A before coming up to the big club.

So (frank)ing stupid that we can’t have a by all accounts overager go straight to the AHL to develop. Completely stupid.

I agree, but for the record, Hickey gets $2.5 MM, so the cap savings are a tad less.

Sbisa is there because they have to dress a certain amount of veterans during preseason games.

The only way Leddy gets traded is if they need the Cap room. I don't see Sbisa getting a contract. I am guessing Dobson gets sent back to juniors after his 6 game look.

All I know is when we choose to have a kid play in the NHL instead of send them back down for 1 more year to Juniors (Nino, Bailey, Beauvillier, etc.). They seem to take a step back in their second year instead of continue to progress... where when we send a guy back down who already was dominant in juniors like Barzal they come back the following summer with a HUGE chip on their shoulder. ... Unless Dobson absolutely blows away the guys on the ice.. He should be sent back down. >> IMO.

any ramifications on status for expansion draft either way?

I could be wrong, but I don't think Bailey ever got sent back to juniors. Between the Isles' utter lack of talent at the time, and Snow falling in love with his pick, I think Bailey jumped straight to the Isles, and then a couple of years later got sent down to Bridgeport for a while.

He was forced to play you're correct. This organization is also much better off with this staff and front office so I'm less concerned with how they develop these kids. Unless they put Dobson out with sbisa I think he will be just fine
