I disagree. There is more to contracts than just how much a player is worth. There are other factors like province\state Tax and cost of living. Living in Toronto the cost is ridiculous and it is going to be way higher than what Aho is going to be paying in Carolina. Same goes for taxes. It is no different from a regular job. If you apply for a job in Toronto you will typically make more than you would make elsewhere to compensate for the cost of living. To give you an idea of how ridiculous living in Toronto is, the rent for a one bedroom condo in Toronto is 2,000 a month

Were talking about players making 9-10-11 million a year and you're arguing that the cost of living difference between Toronto and Carolina matters?

It's in fact quite different than a regular job!

Also the fact that these guys buy houses and they appreciate in value.

Or I had a gf that worked at a high end hotel in TO, a Leafs player lived in the hotel during the season. They don't give a (frank) about cost of living.

The Leafs will meet either Boston or Tampa in the playoffs.

The Sens will meet either a caddy or a groundhog on the golf course.

This is totally how "regular" people think...saying that the rich don't give a damn about money, when in fact, they care MORE. Of course they care about the cost of living! Of course they care about the city, taxes, schooling, travel, etc. etc. etc.

People who think that wealthy people don't care/think about these things are the people that will remain below that line.

Every penny matters...and we should all give 5-10% of our pennies to charity, no matter how many or how few pennies we each have.

They were the "Cup favourites" last year and look at that couldn't even win a round, Tampa the same thing. Maybe Leaf fans will wait til the All-Star break this time before anointing their team the Cup. It's Cup or bust for the next few years given all that money tied up in a handful of players it'll get more difficult each year following to put forth a team as well. I guess hang on for dear life and hope it's a good plan

This is simply not true. They were favourites with Vegas odds, but that' sit. Not a single person on TSN or Sportsnet picked them to win anything.

Winnipeg was by far the cup favourites in the media. How did that go?

Yea, I don't think a guy making 9M a year is a focused on penny pinching and the cost of living as a "regular" person. I also didn't state that they don't care about money.

Most people don't realize that $3 to 4M invested properly will fully financially support 3 generations of family.

That's living a mid to upper class lifestyle but not a "jet setter" type lifestyle mind you...but still a really good life.

It would be unbelievably hard for MM or his parents or his (frank)ing agent to blow the money they each respectively got from just this contract.

It happens, don't get me wrong...hi Jack Johnson...but not as often as it doesn't.
