When will the Flyers realize they need a goalie?
- Atomic Wedgie

2016 when they drafted Hart. What he did in juniors was unprecedented. Best goalie prospect we had since Hextall. Maybe even Pelle Lindbergh. I guess Bob ended up being excellent... just not here. Lol.

Took em long enough, eh?

Leafs are among the cup favorites if they still healthy. If Matthews (likely), Tavares, or Marner go down; they're screwed. When you put all your eggs in one basket you're screwed if it breaks.

Either way, the Bruins still own the Leafs. For a tram who can't make it out of the first round, Leafs fans are awfully cocky!

Matthews = always injured. loafs can't make the playoffs if he's injured, except they always make the playoffs with him injured. Derp

How are sabres chances of making the playoffs without eichel? Is it possible for the Sabres chances to be <0?

I can agree with the taxes analysis. But a similar argument could be made in the Leafs favour for the exchange rate. Cost of living? I'm not going to do the research, but I'm gonna guess the cost of living in LA or San Jose is similar to or higher than Toronto, and you are going to have a hard time convincing me that California has preferential tax treatment. Why doesn't San jose get screwed in their RFA negotiations?
- Leafs43

How many RFAs has San Jose had in the past few years? Most their roster is comprised of guys they traded for or havent been RFAs in years. The whole issues with RFAs is a recent thing. RFA holdouts are happening because players believe theres going to be another lockout. The main thing about the Marner and Nylander deals is the signing bonuses.

Their more recent RFA signings are Me at 6 mill and Hertl at 5.6 mill as a 40 point player. Aside from that you have Thornton, Couture, E.Kane, Burns, EK and Vlasic who were all UFA players when signed.

Couturier has one of those classic Bobby Clarke and Brent Burns hockey smiles.

He says it affects his dating life. Lol.

If Eichel can still manage to slay it with that (frank)ing hair that looks like the time my dog shat a brillo pad I'm sure Coots does just fine.

Matthew's went down last year. They didn't get screwed. I think you're discounting alot of other good young players like Nylander, Kap, Johnsson.

And yes the Bruins own the Leafs.

I love how to fit unsigned RFAs into newly released NHL 20, EA assumed they all signed qualifying offers. This is a touch higher than the 875K he was making yesterday and will make long term franchise simulation for the Leafs much more interesting.

I actually think this was money well spent for the Leafs. The guy is gonna produce big time numbers for them over this contract.

I like Marner. Helps I picked him up as my prospect at the time in a dynasty league.

Yeah, but just imagine their disappointment at the point when they figure out he plays for the Sabers.

Lol what the hell do the Sabres have to do w anything? They're a terrible team. They have 0 chance to win the cup.

Leafs do have a chance but there is very little margin for error. They can't even afford a proper backup goalie now. When healthy the Leafs will be good and fun to watch, but when they dink oitbof the playoffs in Round 1 again Babcock will be fired and it will be a fun poopshow to watch! Lol again @ tying Sabres into this.

The average age of the Leafs does not matter. This is a team that is primarily defined by their outrageous choking history. It does not matter if they are made up by young chokers or old chokers. They underachieve because they always wilt when it really matters.
- spatso

Kind of like how you are defined by choking on your own idiotic words regarding the Leafs for years and years before slinking away from the Leafs/Sens thread like a coward never being big enough to admit how outrageously wrong you were and continue to be?

Cue all the fans of teams with three players making less than 11m each a year. Newsflash...if your club has been drafting and developing well, you are next.
- BernardShakey

Pretty sure every team has 3 players making less than 11M each year.

The Leafs will meet either Boston or Tampa in the playoffs.

They will look good for a game or two before the entirely predictable choke when it really matters. It is easy to feel sorry for Leaf supporters.

They were the "Cup favourites" last year and look at that couldn't even win a round, Tampa the same thing. Maybe Leaf fans will wait til the All-Star break this time before anointing their team the Cup. It's Cup or bust for the next few years given all that money tied up in a handful of players it'll get more difficult each year following to put forth a team as well. I guess hang on for dear life and hope it's a good plan

Sure thing Spatso. As a Sens fan and Leaf hater, your rage and anger is understandale. The Sens will continue to be an irrelevant joke. What an awful situation.

The irony of a sens fan feeling bad about leaf fans is so thick i might just keep the peanut butter in the cupboard.

Meh.

This may be tampa's year.

But the playoffs are generally much more wide open and unpredictable that you are making them out to be.

Eugene, is that you?

I can't want for this year's installment of the player/owner interview. Last year's was so insightful and not the least bit contrived. Or embarrassing.
