Pronger played behind Al McInnis. Weber played behind Timonen and once Timonen came to Philly, Sutter played behind Weber. Deajardins wasn’t the number one guy in Montreal. Chara wasn’t the guy with Islanders before going to Ottawa. Keith was on a bad Hawks team.
Provorov plays behind nobody and still has been fantastic up to last sesson’s first half. So what else do you need? Fact or stats? - SuperSchennBros
Al MacInnis played for the Whalers for 2 years??? |

Turnstile's Flyers number, at least offensively, were just as good without Pronger. |

The myth that Carle was made a good player by Pronger or that Carle was not effective without Pronger is factually wrong. In many cases, Carle's numbers were better without Pronger than they were with Pronger. Carle when he was here was a very good and underrated and under appreciated player. He was an elite offensive defenseman at ES. |

You don't remember all those Flyer fans screaming from the rooftops that the Devils would regret taking Hischier? I'm pretty sure they were on the same buildings in New Jersey where Trump saw American musilms celebrating the World Trade Center being destroyed. - Feanor

is it? I don't know but in the context of the comment I was responding to it seemed an appropriate response.

So it was Pronger that was actually dragging down Carle? |

Oh well then I agree, I think Carle was very underrated here and definitely did not deserve the ire he got from the fans. We certainly missed him on the blue line when he wasn't here, and even after his flyers career had a decent season or two with the lightning. Imagine a d corps with Pronger-Carle, Coburn,-Timonen as your top 4, but with the 3rd pairing of Ghost and Myers instead of guys like oskars bartulis, lukas krajicek, a 54 year old Hal gill, et al. |

no image if Provy had something even close to the D core to help him in his first 3 years....

He was a streaky player. Hot and cold.
I remember on several occasions saying, “I sure hope Flyers fans get a hot Carle tonight.”
