I don't want Marner on the team anymore.
Dubas should say no to any deal.
Have him sit.
Have him beg to play for minimum.
I hate his dog. |

Agree, lets trade him for a 26 year old plug that has the potential to score 16 goals

Maybe that leak of the negotiation has scared marner. Doesn’t wanted to look like a spoiled brat. |

Does he want a nicer AHL affiliate to struggle with? Maybe someplace less warm? |

Yes and yes.
Gauthier and a case of Creemore going the other way.
He can live in the Coca-Cola coliseum equipment closet.
Win-win-win all round. |

The LTIR aspect of this seems to be a red herring. Basically the LTIR is nothing more than the cap flexibility we accrue through the placement of players on LTIR. It doesn't affect the way the cap hit of Marner's contract is calculated (which I've seen inferred on other posts).
But the article is bang on. If Marner wants that $9m x 3 bridge deal and we have roughly 10.5m available in space, November 7th is the drop-dead date; it doesn't really do us any favours either by inflating the $9m hit to $10.5 in year 1, and dropping it to $8.4 in years 2 & 3. - Monkeypunk
The Capfriendly post from last night seemed to suggest the difference was that non-ltir cap hit (eg. nylander's 10.3) would be prorated to the portion of the season that he was on the active roster. So 10.3 was his "full season" cap hit but his actual cap hit for the days he was active was prorated down to 7ish.
If the Leafs are using LTIR then the article suggests that the inflated first year number will not get prorated. So if they had done that last year Nylander's full 10.3 would have counted regardless of when he actually became active.

If you've ever been in the dressing rooms there, you'll know that living in a closet there will have him on the LTIR with a concussion in about 2 days. |

The pub near me has Wellington SPA on tap. I'm very happy about that.
Their suicide wings don't make me want to kill myself though, which is a little disappointing. |

I honestly don't have a favourite beer.
I go to a pub.
I look at the beer menu.
I order something.
I usually like it.
God bless RJ and his hobby of mailing beers around North America, but I'm really fine just ordering something and then drinking it.
Truth is, every bar now has something good on tap. |

What's a Honka?
He seems loke one of those players where people still hold out hope, but it just never comes.

So question for all of you on a Friday morning:
Pretend that Mitchy signs today - at a semi-reasonable rate. One where the fans are happy, the Leafs are happy, everyone is forgiven.
If you are the head of marketing for the XYZ Company, do you want Marnsie or Mattsie as your spokesperson?
I'm kinda leaning towards Marnsie. Local kid. Boyish charm. Maybe a little bit more personality. |

that's how i read mirtle's article.
interesting on the offer sheet - it doesn't get prorated to us if he it signs one mid-season that we match.
not that you plan for it - but with gm's like bergevin pulling bergevins; it's not 100% out of the question. |

most are fickle like and me and will welcome and him back
but you make a good point - he his potentially damaging his name for future sponsorship deals over nickel and diming the leafs. |
