Even with Roussel on LTIR, VAN has at least 15 forwards on NHL deals and may only be able to keep 13 because the cap is expected to be tight. Might be a lot of Utica shuffling. Top 6 on D seems set, no? Edler/Myers-Hughes/Tanev-Benn/Stecher, I would think.

If Boeser signs, Miller-Horvat-Pearson could be a second line. Canucks will be eager to see if Virtanen and Baertschi take a step this season and where they fit in, although one would suspect Leivo and Sutter should secure top 9 spots. Louii Eriksson? 🤷‍♂️

That is a good attitude to have, now he needs to deliver on what is a make or break season for him.

Just for clarification, he wasn't an RFA
- Reubenkincade

You are right, he's not an RFA. He has one year left on his bridge deal. He would have been at the end of the bridge deal. I thought the bridge deal was over is why they signed him now.

That is a hell of a team friendly deal considering he took a team friendly bridge deal too.

I'm glad and really no one should.

A lot of the forwards should be able to play up and down the line up depending on the night. There isn't much security other than Boeser, Petey, Bo being top 6.

Van can't afford to pay him too much if he has a break out season. Cap issues next season too.

According to this article, Canucks are getting away from this top 6 mentality and looking at a top 9 scenario.

I get that but if he has a break out season then you don't need Pearson and you can bring in someone who is on ELC that is ready to be promoted. Get assets back for Pearson?

Or put Sven on LTIR

The Cap thing is bullsh1t. With a 23 man roster they could sign him today for 7 mil. If they were desperate they could go to a 21 man roster and pay him close to 9 mil. We are talking about a paper shuffle.

I have heard Canucks did offer him 7 mil long term. I also heard they want to pay him 6 mil , that is where they feel comfortable.

This is not unique to Boeser only there are other GMs standing pat telling the players and their agents that their numbers are stupid.

I think their is a good chance BB will only be signed after the season starts . It is not like he has never missed a season for the Canucks first game . It will get resolved so I am not the least bit worried. I am curious to see who steps up and takes Boesers spot. Once he realizes the team can function without him and he is not receiving a paycheck he will come around

Wow, Vantel, you have really come around with rational thought. Color me impressed. Agree with nearly all of this...

I don't think I would call it a "mentality". Pretty much the team used to suck and it had only 6 players that could be even considered top 6 players and now as I said they have players that have the potential to be top 6 on different nights.

You've always needed scoring to win and teams that were good, they had good top 6 scoring and the 3rd and 4th lines chipped in more than other teams.

They were protecting Bo and Petey and Bo last season without Beagle and Sutter, Bo showed he's capable against other teams top lines.

Sorry Van isn't allowed to do things that the rest of the league gets to do. Sven isn't going to fake an injury to get Van out of cap trouble. The league won't allow it.

Juluis Honka has requested a trade for Dallas. Biega for Honka. Sign him to a 1 year 700K deal.

Save's Van 125K and they can sign BB.

It is rare that that site, has any decent articles that are worth sharing.
For those that think Sutter will be on 4th line, I think Green was indicating that Sutter is the 3rd line centre.

If Sutter can regain some form, he's not a bad option as 3rd line center. There aren't any more proven more reliable options at the moment.

Nashville has the most spent on forwards right now at 54.7 million.
Ottawa has the least at 34.5 million

San Jose 32 million the most on defence
Ottawa 12 million the least on defence

Montreal 12.5 most on goaltending
Columbus 2 million on goaltending.

Toronto, Ottawa, Detroit all have over 10 million on LTIR already.
