I was expecting bigger things. Felt it was pretty mild. Although the alphabet people joke had me on the floor

I think that once you see someone’s best special everything is seems mild. Bill Burr is one of the best ever and his new stuff is awesome but nothing ever beats that first time you heard him talk about hitting a woman.

Jeez... $875k for one year. I guess if space is somehow created before season's end, they can extend him with a little more generous offer.
- madmike71

I know that they cannot do more because they didn’t have the space, but do you think that they ALREADY have a number and term agreed upon under the table that likely was a little on the sweeter side for Petts as a reward for taking this deal today?

I was skimming through a bunch of stuff and someone said he'll get a long term deal after Jan 1. I guess that's when players can agree to an extension. Probably have to sweeten that deal to make up for the money he's missing in this contract. I'm sure they have a framework already worked out.

Good on Petts for taking a little risk and realizing he'll get paid eventually.

Yeah it desensitizes us. I watched the new burr the other night and it was solid. We need a new Louis ck special.

Just curious, what is your projected lineup? People keep talking about wanting this player and that player in the top 6, but there are only so many spots and Guentzel and Galch have 2 of the 4 locked up, so that leaves only 2. As for the top 9, I would say that Bjug and Horny have 2 of those locked up, so that leaves 3 for the remaining. It's probably safe to say that Bleuger and Tanev are on the 4th line.

So 1 of Simon, Kahun, Rust and McCann has to be on the 4th line with ZAR as the 13th forward. While I like our forward depth, one can argue that one of those four players is a wasted asset (or "overqualified") to play on the 4th line and only getting ~10-12 minutes per night.

- Hockey66

I want to see some experimenting because I'm a believer in chemistry, but here's where I'm leaning:

Guentzel-Sid-Kahun
Simon-Malkin-Galch
McCann-Bjugstad-Hornqvist
Tanev-Bluegger-Rust

Kahun is speedy and was a good ES scorer, so I think that might work like Sheary, only he plays defense too.

I'd rather play a better goal scorer than Simon, but I'm worried about that line being stuck in it's own end so I prioritzed play-driving ability

McCann because I thought for all the chances that line created but never scored on a finisher could be a nice fit.

Even though I have Tanev on the 4th, I do think people are sleeping on him a little. He played all year on a very good 3rd line so he could easily do try same here, I just liked McCann better.

I also think it's possible he could be a middle 6 guy and score close to 20 while providing a fore-checking presence in on a scoring line. Sid used to play well of the chaos Kunitz created, but hasn't had the element since and that skillset might compliment that line well.

I like your lineup and the rationale behind it. Rust on the 4th line definitely sticks out. To me, he is one of those players that can be a good passenger but he is not going to create on his own. I would much rather see ZAR in that spot at $2.5 mil less if Rust has trade value to attach to he who shall not be named.

I hope you are right and Tanev surprises us all. His game seems like a perfect fit for the 4th line, but maybe that's just an old way of thinking. I don't see Tanev ever playing with Sid for an extended period. I don't think he has the hands to be a consistent finisher. I think he might be a more physical, more energetic version of Rust.

Kahun has already showed more of a scoring touch and McCann is still young. I think Simon is getting close to being established as a good complementary winger on the 2nd or 3rd line. I've had a change of heart and I don't think he will be Sid's winger. I like the way he thinks the game and he drives play but he is just not a consistent finisher and I have doubts he ever will be, at least not 1st line level.

I think I’m just not in to stand up anymore. I almost never think they’re as funny as the general consensus thinks they are. Used to love them when I was growing up though. Staying up at night in middle school and watching raunchy stand ups on Comedy Central after my parents went to bed felt so rebellious haha.

LOL, watched TV WITH my parents until they went to bed, and then we were busy sneaking out (and eventually back IN) the back door all hours. Somehow survived it all...

I recall reading recently that Sid said he doesn't talk with JR about teammates, so I'm hypothesizing he doesn't talk to HCMS about linemates either:

Jake - Sid - Horny
McCann-Geno-Galch
Simon-Bjug-Rust
Tanev-Blue-Kahun

Dumo-Letang
Petts-Schultz
Rik/JJ-Guds/Ruw

We're getting close! Rust has a bounceback year. Blue could grab 3C. Hope Rik beats out JJ.

I like Bill Burr, think he's f'n hilarious....but for their latest Netflix special releases:

Chappelle > Burr...and Burr's was still good, just not as good IMO.

Idk why, but i could never get into stand up. I love all comedy shows from the big bang to two and a half men to always sunny. I think they would be awesome to go to live, idk just can't get into it on tv.

I was too in middle school. But in high school, we figured out that dad's somewhat noisy pool filter masked the creaky storm door outside our room, and so mayhem ensued, LOL. And in my day, Atari had just come out, so most of our adventures were outdoors.

See, I cant stand regular network (NBC, ABC, CBS) TV shows for the most part. Think they're too goody innocent, cheesy and sh!t. They have this artificial sheen on them. Same goes for the dramas and what not. Two and a Half was an exception, though I only probably saw like 20 episodes but found them funny, and Always Sunny doesn't really fall into this category because it's not on those networks.

The only thing I really watch on TV is hockey.
